Not the best craftsmanship but I think it came out pretty good for the first piece of furniture I’ve ever built. Goes with the rustic cabin theme. Will probably build another slightly shorter one for the “concession stand” area I’m putting next to the home theater.

Nice work there. Love the use of pocket screws. But I'm calling bullshit on you...There's NO WAY that's $60 worth of lumber. More like $3,500.

Great DIY job, man!

So the driveway is going to remain asphalt as the other 100-150ft or so of the driveway is asphalt.

There are two bays of the existing garage as you have no doubt noticed. The bay that is partially covered is going to be framed in to a man door inside (with the outside exterior just lined up to existing wall and stuccoed. And that bay will be turned into a mudroom / laundry room.

The other garage bay that is not affected by the reno will remain a garage that I will keep the lawn tractor, snow blower, bikes, kids paraphernalia, etc in.

Eventually, I might put a shed in the back and move all of that stuff into it so it is a true garage once the kids move out and I can use it for a summer sports car. Assuming the amount of alcohol I am consuming during covid doesn't kill me first anyways. Or other life choices. I do enjoy going quickly in a vehicle, though I like to think that I'm careful about the time and place where I do so.

Thanks! Learned pocket screws from YouTube! I thought the wood would be expensive, but it’s only super pricey for the fancy stuff I’m guessing you’re actually suppose to make furniture from. I used the cheapest 2x4s and 2x6s for the top. I believe it was like $4ish for each of the 9 2x4x8 and maybe $7ish for each of the 3 2x6x8. I’m probably over $60 if you add in the screws and stain and I had to buy the pocket screw gizmo.

All that being said I fucked up! Got TV in today and the feet are like a fucking INCH too deep and hang off the top! I also didn’t take into account the wheels added height so the TV is fairly high up now, not horrible but could be a few inches lower. Lastly I didn’t even think about my center channel speaker. In FL I have the TV mounted on the wall so the speaker just sat on the console and was below the tv. In this case 1 there was no room for it and 2 even if there was would block a good chunk of screen.

So I have begun work on version 2.0. I will use this one for the “concession” stand area and I’m making a deeper, shorter version and will have to come up with some kind of shelf or something in the front for the center channel.

Most of my projects go that way too. You're not alone!

I'm the master of selecting some arbitrary dimension for no reason other than it looked about right. Only to find later I'm an inch too tall, a 1/2 inch too wide, or I didn't leave room for XYZ. Literally every time. You'd think it's learn. Nope.

You can go to Amazon and look for something like this (maybe you need something bigger for bigger TV).

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077MJZ6ZG...ing=UTF8&psc=1

I have one in Asheville to fit TV on tabletop and make room for center speaker.

Edit: Found a mediocre / not great pic.

Here is v 2.0 in it’s final resting area. I ended up using the butcher block countertop I had for this one as it was the perfect size for the deeper frame. You can also see v 1.0 next to it and my popcorn machine should be coming this weekend.

Pretty happy with the results. Will probably build more stuff now that I have some basic knowledge like lots of storage for the rest of the basement.

So I just realized I forgot to post the after photos on our kitchen reno. I totaled my car hydroplaning on the the hwy the Sunday before Thanksgiving (thread here: https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1879999 ) . I ended up finishing the kitchen, 2 days later on Tues. night. Was literally painting the baseboards 2 hrs before picking up my family from the airport.

I don't have the clean counter photos, so my wife may kill me if she ever sees this lol

Added a nice back patio last summer. Stamped concrete and a pavilion from Costco. Added a retractable projector screen to have some movie nights.

Got my yard completed to 95% after 4+ years of working on it little by little and adding my finishing touches. Still want to add some low voltage lighting and some natural stone near my tree lines but I'm very happy and proud of the finished product. Can't wait for it to get a bit warmer here in NY to do some more fire pits again.

Looks very cozy and green grass helps, LOL (our grass was pretty much brown half of the summer due to drought).
