It’s not clear to me how “artificial” intelligence is more of a threat than a real intelligence that is hundreds/thousands of years more advanced.

With you though, AI certainly feels like a threat to our civilization left unchecked or managed by the govts. and corps. of the world.

Maybe aliens (err non-biological humans) will save us from ourselves…it sure feels like we’re in deep shit.

Some conspiracy theorist/invaded by aliens/ science denier reported years ago that one of the Apollo astronauts reported seeing a UFO during a space flight. The Astronaut (I forget his name) was asked if it might be aliens.
His reply;
"During an Apollo flight I and others on board saw something we couldn't identify. That isn't to say it was an alien spacecraft visiting Earth, neither does it mean it wasn't. What we saw was an unidentified flying object, that is we saw something that I, my fellow crew, and ground control could not identify. That is what an unidentified flying object is."

Well sometimes Ive looked to the sky and seen something I couldn't identify. Might have been a plane, a satellite, a bird, a weather balloon, or an alien spaceship full of little green men. Guess what I'd bet against it being?
