Sorry I think this car is pretty cool. All the Toyota haters need to check themselves. Last time I checked, Toyota has been in the F1 game for a while, and theyre one of the few to directly transition its F1 V10 into a production car. Have you heard the way this sounds? Pretty awesome if you ask me.
R8 V10? What a joke. Why does everyone have such a hardon for that car? It doesnt even out perform a 430, but people mention them like its the same thing? The closest competitor to the R8 is a Porsche GT3, and I much rather have that. Its not always about speed. Its about the feel of a car. If we all just cared about speed, I'd be happy driving a R32 Skyline. But obviously theres more to cars than just speed. |

LULS. Your statement goes very well with your anime avatar and username, not to mention your list of cars.
Toyota's first attempt at a supercar for three times a supercar price. And from Japan. No thanks. Quote:

like i said before, lexus need to fix that front end and side profile by sticking with the 07 concept. Then i think the cost may justify.
right now, the front end does resemblance a soup up celica. if i can put this v10 in my m3, that would be awesome. lol |

What I don't understand is how the most cost efficient company in the world, Toyota, is going to loose money on this car. What did they do wrong for this kind of money?
The new McLaren is going to cost about half and will out perform this car for sure. It's going to be exclusive too. McLaren has got to be thinking about how much Toyota screwed up with this car. And to someones post above about Toyota and F1. Don''t go there. They haven't won a single race with one of the largest budgets in F1. Sort of similar to their failed LeMans attempt.

i think as long as lexus fix the front end by the production date 2011. this car is worth 375k. It sounds better than the 458 italia and about anything else there IMO. the sound is not super loud, not small, just perfect when you get on it. but at low rev, it sound very civil. |

Judging from the posts in this thread, it looks like the new LF-A is a CLEAR FAILURE.............Yet I'm still extremely excited that Lexus has decided to produce such a vehicle.
I can't wait to find out what this car is about after it is tested thoroughly by all the major reviewers in the world. |

I love an F1's exhaust note, but prefer engines to sound like what they are and not what they pretend to be, tuned by a sound stylist...the LF-A does not rev to 18,000rpm. Both are subjective reasons you like the LF-A more, the numbers say the McLaren will be superior automobile and for 60% of the cost. Car and Driver have the estimated curb weight of the Lexus at 3500 pounds, carbon fiber tub or not. The LF-A is never going to be in the annals of beautiful car design everyone agrees on that, it's certainly interesting looking but a bit childish, I'm referring to the little "hook" styling conceit at the C pillar. My subjective opinion is that the LF-A is unattractive, bordering on grotesque in places. The McLaren I think just looks a bit dull considering the F1 and it's competition, but it's certainly not an ugly car. |

Now to the question of the LF-A. I don't think everyone here are Toyota haters, well most aren't of which I include myself, but the facts remain that this car is way over priced for the performance available and the reason for that is it's about 6~7 years too late to the party. I do agree that the engine note is truly incredible but on a Lexus , a brand that hasn't nor shouldn't really stand for ultimate race car experience which really is what this car is all about. I'm sure it will be a thrilling drive and will be right up there with the best of them but sadly all of the others is will be compared to will be about half the price and all have a brand image that in this particular market stands for far more than Lexus ever could. If they sell all 500 units then there is far too many rich d1cks in the world with too much money and not a clue of what to spent it on. |

Toyota needs to take this body style (with less exotic construction materials), plop in a IS-F or turbo IS-350 engine, put it in the $40-50K price range, and call it a Supra

The first concept came out in 2005... so 4/5 years of money wasted on R&D, only to produce a car that is subpar in its price bracket.

Well said. Exactly my thoughts. Funny I used to mock Lexus a few years ago giving examples of how BMW "Engineers" engines while Lexus takes one engine and converts it into a performance engine. Lexus owners used to curse on me for being a "BMW fanboi". Now I must give Lexus the respect they deserve.
The LF-A Chief Engineer said that the car revs so fast from 4000 to 9000 rpm that no analog speedo that can keep up. That is why they built their own completely digitial gauge cluster. I never had an engine that gives me goosebumps like this car does. Between 7000 and 9000 rpm, it is the sound of the devil. It used to be LP640, M5 and Porsche Carrera GT, but now the sound of LF-A is out of this planet. Ferrari never had the best sounding exotic cars so I do not expect the 458 to sound any better than the F430 Scuderia and it is also a V8 not a V10. Now, it is Lexus that is building a true halo car that is an engineering marvel. The technology and engineering will trickle down to cheaper cars. What does BMW have for a halo car???? X6 M??? What type of cars BMW is planning on releasing?? A 4600 lbs low-revving turbocharged M5. Seriously, that must be a bad joke. Quote:

Not a hater here, this car is very interesting and it's cool to see Toyota/Lexus getting serious about exciting cars again.
We'll have to wait and see how it performs. This guy seems impressed.

btw, it is not 3500lbs. around 3250lbs is more accurate. front end needs lot of work, side profile need to be more aggresive. rear is perfect and very unique IMO. I like the LFA rear more than the 458 italia. actually, the 458 italia frond end is not that nice either. I don't like it as well. side profile is hate it or love it. So overall it is not perfect either. still needs work too. I think f430 looks better. |
