Keep E55k or get i3?
Hey brahs,
Currently driving a 2005 E55K for daily. No payments, 95k miles. Paying about $300 a month on gas for it alone (I have other cars). I commute about 1000 miles a month on average. Obviously the benz is getting older now, and the next repair that I would have to do will probably be thousands (air suspension, SBC brake system, charger pulley, etc...) BMW is basically giving away i3's for lease, I have a quote for a 30 month lease 12k miles a year, for $299 + tax a month with $0 drive off. This means that I would basically be trading 1 to 1 gas for my benz or a new lease on the i3. Charging for the BMW would be free because we have free charging in our office parking lot. Any thoughts?

Get the i3. I drove one and it's absolutely a sick-ass car. Composite tub chassis, RWD, good handling, great power at city speeds, quiet, awesome shifter, cool interior...

I love the i3s and you can get some killer deals on them. I was a little hesitant at first about those but after you drive them you become hooked.

like wind breezes said, if you can get past the looks it's actually not a bad driver. the 0-30 acceleration is seriously addicting. But yea, it really does look like that.
that's a really good lease deal. id be tempted to go for it. what is your daily commute in terms of distance? |

As much as people despise the looks, I think it's simply awesome in every way possible! Again, my opinion.

If your commute doesn't have many large hills to climb, then yeah, I'd get the i3. I've heard horror stories about the i3 climbing large freeway hills.
My wife is in the same situation with her gas-guzzling Toyota Sequoia. I've been looking at X1 lease deals and I'm still waiting for sales on leases for less than $299 a month, zero down. |

Beside the polirizing exterior, which I guess one could very well disregard for the other qualities of the car, the interior is also very strange and in my opinion unwelcoming. Take your time to try out the inside to see if it works for you.
