Camaro SS vs base camaro vert vs base mustang vert
I'm planning a trip out to Los Angeles in about a month and looking to rent a pony car of some kind. Looking at prices, it seems I can get a Camaro SS coupe (or similar) for nearly the same price as a base Mustang vert (or similar) from Avis. I called Avis at LAX and they said they have both 2015 and 16 Camaros, and I should be able to get the 16 if I request when I get there. So I'm leaning towards the SS because I've read so many great things about the new one, but wonder if I should just go for the top-down fun and give up some performance.
Any thoughts? |

I rented a new mustang a few months back. It was decent, better than the usual compact cars that I get, nothing that would make me want to buy it, but I felt pretty safe and comfortable in it. I had an SS though and IMO there's no comparison. The camaro SS has been better than the mustang GT for a long time, either due to solid axle or excessively soft suspension. Once you get up to the 350/R, it seems the tables turn the other way.

Get the ss if you want performance and pretty good mpg from the 6.2l LT1 and a ats chasis benchmarked against the e46 and e90, cons visibility which I got used to in a day and lack of storage and space and some road noise.
