How are you spending your stimulus check?

I'll probably keep most of it and buy a few things I've had in my Amazon shopping cart for awhile

Most of it will go into savings since I have twins on the way. I may set some aside to go out to bars and restaurants when this is over and tip like a boss.

Pretty sure most owners here aren’t eligible for a stimulus check. And if anyone on here is, they should reconsider their priorities and whether they should be owning an m3 while being eligible for a government stimulus payment.

Giving our checks away to our daughters, a friend that is struggling financially at this time, the local food bank and the local housing alliance that reaches those near the brink of collapse.

Or they own several cars, file jointly and have a couple businesses that take losses or slight gains every year.

What’s your threshold? Any family making <$150k shouldn’t own a Bimmer regardless of living situation? Not trying to push the thread in a different direction, but that seems like an odd... bleh never mind.

Remember 6.6 million filed for unemployment. Just because someone owns a M3 doesn't mean they didn't lose their job or furloughed. A person is eligible for a stimulus check if they have adjusted gross income up to:

$75,000 for individuals
$112,500 for head of household filers and
$150,000 for married couples filing joint returns

So what you are saying is if a person makes less than $75k/year we should reconsider our priorities? No disrespect but I disagree. I don't own a M3 but $75k in my area is considered winning. The average income of a resident here is $18,780 a year. The US average is $28,555 a year. - The Median household income of residents here is $27,946 a year.

Stimulate me. I'll take it and put it in savings.

I believe you have to make under $75k as an individual of $150k if you file jointly. If you have kids it stacks on to that.

I am surprised as many people have responded they are getting one as have. I guess a lot of people have cars worth 50%+ of their annual income? Either than or you have a entry 3 series and your spouse just has a shitty car?

First, you don't get the stimulus for being unemployed, you get it based on the last tax filing you made so that does not factor in at all.

Second, making $75k and buying a $50k+ car is not very smart, unless you are living with your parents and have no other living costs. Even if someone is above the median and are "winning" doesn't mean they should spend money recklessly.

I think that figure might be net? I made slightly over 100k last year gross and received $300. I read somewhere that the amount tapers down after 75k

Also a ton of people on bimmerpost have older cars / bought used, so their price tags are significantly lower

Keep in mind, there may be other factors involved here as well though. I make decent money, my car cost about 36% of my yearly income. I also have less than $5k total debt (aside from car). House is paid off, I'm single and my kids are adults living on their own.

Just reading some of these comments...some pretty awesome and generous people in here. Kudos to you guys!

As for me...not sure well even get one, our banking information was screwed up on our tax forms without us catching it so our return couldnt be deposited and who knows whatll happen with this stimulus check.

Don't think I'll get one. The ones who do, I hope you don't waste it and make good use of it where needed. Hopefully it helps.

+1

Total net worth is a better metric. I have friends with a few million dollar portfolios and no debt (inherited money) that make 50-60k a year (salary) and friends that make 200-300k a year with little or no savings and some major debt.

Surprising to see BMW owner(s) with numerous mods being eligible to get these checks. Priorities skewed or you hide money well.

So it’s 500 per kid or? If so I might have to make a quick trip to the orphanage. What’s the return policy on orphans?

Sweet, I might be able to get the next iPhone out of this along with a sick set of Apple AirPods with money on top. Might buy some random shit on Amazon I have zero need for.
