After the first failure maybe you should stop tracking it until you figure out WTF is going on

Too many electronic nannies going off. Like the driver said the car completely loses its mind at that moment

I didn't watch the whole video front to back but it sounded like they implemented some kind of stability control defeat because this model didn't have track mode, where all the Nannie's should be turned off. So maybe that caused some kind of ABS fault in the system. Regardless, it shouldn't happen, but then again they are doing stuff to the car that it wasn't intended to do. Perhaps the track setting will solve this?

To those wondering why he tried again after a brake failure, it sounds like he did some brake checks prior to the second spin that wasn't presented fully in the video. He did some straight line braking in the other parts of the track etc. regardless, brake failures are one of the most pucker inducing moments on the track. Absolutely terrifying.

Also watch this if you want to see idiots taking a car on the track without helmets or any safety gear.

Apparently the issue could be with programming of ABS system from Bosch, probably fixable via software update.

BMW Performance Center conducts their M school without helmets. The theory being that the airbags and seatbelts are enough of a safety net and that airbags are not designed for a person wearing a helmet. Something about the explosive nature of the airbag catching the "chin" of the helmet, or the proximity of the side curtain airbag, the gasses released getting trapped in a full faced helmet with the visor down etc. A lot of speculation when I googled it. Nothing definitive. Personally, I use a full face helmet at all times.

Don't go to a TF day at Nurburgring. You'll start hyperventilating.

This was my biggest complaint when I test drove the Plaid. The brakes are not adequate for the amount of speed this vehicle is capable of generating in a short period of time, and two the software issues. I don't give a shit if Tesla will fix this with a software update, I've tracked all my cars and I've never had a brake failure outside of my own negligence.

Hopefully Lucid Air and all of the rest off the companies coming out with EV's absolutely crush Tesla so they are forced to innovate again.

Why would anybody want to track a Tesla in the first place? It's not a performance car/car company. It goes fast in a straight line because of the instant torque of an electric motor.

In 10 years, when the established (traditionally ICE) players have leveraged electric motors, Tesla will become a minor player in the automotive industry. They have done well so far because they haven't had competition.

Funny, I remember people were saying the same thing about Nokia phones when the first iPhone came out... still waiting for iPhone killer from Nokia. But we'll see, we'll see.

That was embarrassing. Maybe learn to drive?

While not a fanboy... the PLAID has achieved a pretty good time on the Nürburgring. Slightly faster than the BMW M5 Competition (F90), Nissan GT-R, BMW M4 GTS, and several Porsche 911, Ferrari, Lamborghini.

That was with a good driver though!

Those Plaids are quickly becoming a common sight in Jupiter. Last week I saw three Plaids parked in front of the Crux coffee shop in Abacoa.

Competition breeds innovation. I hope the other players make better electric cars so that Tesla has to make better electric cars so that the other players make better electric cars etc...

I wouldn't want to track a Tesla, but the fact that this boat still makes decent laps tells me a focused electric performance car is going to be bananas.

I'd imagine only a very minuscule percentage of Plaid owners will track their car. Their customers are not the type to care about that stuff, they just want to accelerate quickly occasionally and have bragging rights.

Elon knows the type of people who buy these cars; what they prioritize and what they don't.

wrong. and the only Porsches, Ferraris or Lamborghinis it beat were 10 years older than it.

Its 30 to 40 seconds slower than modern Porsches with less than half its horsepower.

Just re-read my comment and not seeing model years mentioned.

What I said is completely correct, dont be so upset about it.

What you're saying is also correct, imagine that. High five!

Regardless of all that… the Tesla Model S Plaid is the fastest accelerating production car on the planet.

Well said. Couldn't agree more. Wonder if anyone will beat Musk's Roadster to market in 2023.

Randy Pobst set a sedan record on the Streets of Willow in the new M5...later that day he beat it in the Plaid..

I wouldn't track one either, but they are capable in more than just a straight line.

It is safe to say that most people are not as skilled at driving as Randy Pobst.
