2010 BMW M6 Front Bumper Help Identify it

Hey guys,

I am looking at adding another car to the garage and am toying around with E6X.

I was looking at this car and I really really like the front bumper on it. Is it custom or a BMW factory option? I haven't seen any M6s from this era with it.

Definitely aftermarket, looks like some sort of F80 rep to me. A quick Ebay search found this:

Thanks a lot. I had seen that eBay one that was just hoping it was a unique BMW bumper and not a aftermarket one. I will say it definitely looks better to me than the stock front bumper.

Definitely not a BMW option, all E6X M cars came with one bumper option only.

Eh, it's not that far off. M6s go for a decent amount more than comparable M5s (don't ask me why). It's a 2010 and it's low mileage, so that's certainly going to play a factor. If it had a 6 speed manual it would be in the 60s to 70s and sell quickly. All of these V10 powered cars are starting to appreciate in value.

i mean wouldnt you rather just buy one with high mileage and just get the engine rebuilt. its not like a low mileage means anything. But i get it. I'm just salty because I want to buy one

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

No, you do not want to rebuild a high mileage S85. That's a quick way to put yourself in the poor house. Do your S85 homework and you'll see what I mean. You want to buy the lowest mileage, cleanest car you can find.

I mean you buy a car for 25k and spend at most 10k on rebuild....35k

vs spending 50k on a low mileage that will likely need 5k on bearings?

You are not rebuilding an S85 for 10K. Rod bearing jobs on S85s are nowhere near 5K.

Like I said, do your S85 homework and you'll see what I'm talking about. I came within inches of buying one until I found the B7 that I have now.

Drove that M6 on a few occasions. My very good friend has one. This car is close to 6 speed manual price. Well overpriced. As for rod bearings they can be done in $2500 range. So nowhere near 5K. It’s not a rocket science like some here claim it to be. Any BMW specialist will get it done.m right. They not fall apart like some think. Key thing are frequent oil changes with proper 10W60 and properly warmed up engine before giving it a beans, but that everyone here should know, and even conducting 3 PPIs will not uncover that. I have E63 with M156 engine and did a head bolts on it. Every BaT buyer is asking about it. My car is 09. Bolts were perfectly fine. I wouldn’t do it again. With S85 and S65 proper warm up and engine oil is the key. Good luck with your search. That V10 is glorious!!!

I know, bunch of hysterics. How the fuck is 10k not enough to rebuild the fucking engine when I can buy a whole working engine for less...anyways typical bimmerpost know it alls

I don’t understand what is the issue here. Plenty of those engines working well for happy owners that are not posting here. Not the whole world of Bmw owners has to report to Bimmerpost or anywhere else for that matter. Crankshaft for this engine is in the ballpark of $5K so $10K wil not be enough for parts let alone the rebuild. Some engines are considered as some ticking time bombs with internet overblown issues. Just because I stated my different opinion doesn’t mean that someone else isn’t right. Just because I’ve done over $6K worth of headbolt replacement with removal of heads and new head gaskets doesn’t mean that those that went with replacing one by one option will not be ok. No need for that language just because you don’t agree with someone. You my guru are right. Feeling better now ?😆

bro i literally agreed with you. the poster above said more than 5k for bearings and you couldn't rebuild anywhere near 10k... you said 2.5k for bearings which I was piggybacking off of, but for some reason you are spewing wrong numbers now. a crankshaft is 2k on FCP Euro.

again you can buy a fucking drop in engine with 40k miles for under 10k. so then tell me your "opinion" about how much things cost

some of yall can't even do a simple google search. and are letting numbers that you have been quoted or been hosed by cloud your judgment.

I googled. That’s what came up. So with our fantastic IL taxes it’s close enough to $5K for me. I don’t have time to look for the cheapest one just to prove the point, you however seem to have all the time on your hands which I kind of envy you

Okay buddy use brand new OEM parts in an engine that is likely over 15 years old.

U can get a remanufactured one for 2k. Why would you dump so much money into a 15 year old car. but to each their own. That proves your point, but you aren't making logical decisions and likely are a mechanics dream client.

anyways lots of things an be fixed by the correct mechanic...

case in point my f30 fried two piston rings. dealers wants to drop in a NEW OEM engine at 20k...indy tears down replaces both pistons....4.5k


Are you the one who paid 6k for head bolts lol?

Luckily i did not pay $6K. But i had it done the proper way. Heads off. If it takes 22 labor hours to do shit inside the engine I will not risk saving $2K to drop in reman crankshaft in. I’ll look for savings elsewhere. Some would throw in Chinese pistons in and “see how that goes”. I am one of those guys. I am not saying it will not work for some. I will just do my things my way. Maybe sometimes I’ll pay a little more but like I said. I will look for savings elsewhere. And I am not getting mad for people to do it other way. I make my decisions and if they are wrong I take full responsibility for them. I have nobody else to blame for them later. Kind of the way I do things in my life
