I’m always a little wary of Turo bc if something happens or if the owner claims something happened, it’s on you. Extra bullshit to deal with.

There was a similar situation w/ hoooviesgarage & a hellcat.

Even if he did use it in a texas mile competition I have no idea how they did 4k of damage. I probably do more damage to tires and brakes on a typical day of autocross.

No kidding. I saw the shots of the tires, they don't even look that heat-cycled. I think the teacher is dumb but the dude bitching is even dumber. Oh no, your poor car went 160. Call the cops, the tires are shot and you need new brakes.

I remember when I turoed a Subaru WRX STI limited trim whatever it was, special edition car, the guy flat out told me he hoped I wrecked it so he could collect on insurance because he hated it. I probably wouldn't put anything particularly spicy on there because I know people will drive it... that's what they're for. Taking it to an event, sure that's a bridge too far, but the texas mile is probably the tamest event in terms of vehicle wear and tear I can think of.

Speaking of Turo, I have been looking for a V10 R8 to rent so I can finally figure out if I really want to own one and only one came up within an hour or more of me & they want $579 per day. LOL HARD PASS

The renter is trying to cash in with some BS claims. There is no way you can burn through a full set of tires on high speed runs. That chuck maybe, but the the tread isn't even worn that much. Brake pads are less than $1000 even for upgraded track pads. Even if that Supra had a CCB upgrade, it would definitely NOT need replacing after a weekend of high speed runs.

That being said, the renter is a moron. He got caught red-handed and is doubling down on an obvious lie.
