Hello fellow addicts. I'm having a really hard time here. I love my S2000 and I don't want to give it up. I also think I'm more of a S2000 person than a 135. It's hard to explain but it just how I feel. I just like the way I connect with the car. I'm not sure I will feel the same with the 135.

Now, I already have a 135 on order due to be picked up on the 15th this month. I will not be able to afford both payments so I will have to give up my S. But I don't want to. So it's either calling it all off or coming to terms with losing my S.

I know there are a lot of ex or soon to be ex S2000 owners here. Please comment and tell us how you feel about trading the S for a 135. I also would love to read comments from others.

The s2000 is an awesome car. In the cost/fun ratio I think it wins any competition hands down. If I lived in someplace warmer or had a garage I would definitely be owning one. It feels like a grandmas car below 2000 rpm, but you just keep it in gear and let the music come from the engine. The relative power increase up high compared to down low might hurt the 5-60 time but it makes the car somehow more entertaining to drive.

I have never felt a shifter as precise as the one in that car at any price.

Im an ex S2k owner Berlina black, i do miss the car but my 135 that i just picked up definately puts a smile on my face, its not as sharp as the S2K but its close, the torque however is amazing!

I used own S2000. I love the high revving I4 but the 135i's tq is just can't compare to high revving. 135i all the way.

I will tell you this I too love my S2000, and I understand how you feel some kind of connection with it ... Its because the S2000 is about as pure a sports car as you can buy. Dont get me wrong there are faster , nicer and more expensive cars out there but with most new cars today you loose some 'feel" when you are driving it makes you really have to appreciate about our car. Teh connectuon between the road and the driver is pretty seamless , the true meaning of a drivers car....It is a no frills machine though, a 135i has grace and power. Nice options to go along with it. I have test drove the 135i and I do love it for sure but it is differnet then the Honda . I think it comes down to what you like more. It really is prefernence. the Honda S2000 much like the 135i, is a marvel in their own rights.

So what do you want more? A NA 4 banger that really can move but really only when its pushed hard (the engine loves screaming) or a twin turbo charged "Hot Rod" ... ??? Ive had my fun with my S2K I think Im ready for something a little more potent and with some more luxuries without giving up too much of that "feel" ... Go for it and get the 135i IMO.... :thumbup:

I agree with sid33, the s2k is definitely a fun roadster to have. One thing I will definitely miss about the s2k is the precise shifter. I'm hoping the 135 will have a similar feel to it.

You need to be honest with yourself, and make sure you drive them both back-to-back. The 135i is a VERY seductive little car, and I would be willing to bet you will love it as much as you have loved your S2000... but because it's a different driving dynamic, you will permanently miss your S2000, and love the 135i for its unique nature.

When I traded in my Lotus Elise for my Porsche Carrera S, everyone thought it would be a simple thing for me... but in reality, as great as the latest 997 is, I have NEVER gotten over giving up that Elise, and I miss it so very much at times... yet ultimately I am glad that I have the Porsche.

There is no way that the 135i can completely substitute for the S2000. So... perhaps it's just time for a new and exciting driving experience with the 135i.

I understand your difficult dilemma, so I really wish you luck with this.

I have never driven an S2000, but driving my 07 Civic Si with its 8,000 rpm 197hp I4 is a blast past 6,000. The engine and trans is awesome. It handles fantastic for FWD. I bet the S2000 is a blast.

Good luck with SELLING your S2000. Get the 135i BRAH.

Jeff1962, I have the 2004 Acura RSX-TypeS which is really the forerunner of your Honda(Honda replaced the Acura with the Si) Since the day I bought it, I thought for $23k, I got a lot of smiles per miles. But, as you stated, you need 6k RPM to make it sing, and I'm looking forward to 1400rpm@300lbs. torque. My car always feels like, "Man if it just had more torque........" To answer the original thread, get the 1er, drive it for a year or two, and see what the next generation of S2000 will be like. That's the action I would take in any case. I had a 2003 silver S2000, to this day I miss that car. I have moved on to a 2007 335 and I have have 08 M3 on order which is due in about a week. The 135 motor is a torque monster and the 50/50 weight distribution makes it handle well, its a different driving experience to the s2000 which is a pure sports car. For every day driving or for having just one car I think the 135 is the prudent choice. For weekend/track work the S2000 is more focused and fun. I would say go for the 135, hopefully you wont miss the s2k too much. If I had more garage space, I would definately get another s2k.

Dude!! You need to go drive an S2K. I drove my younger brothers 08 Si Coupe for the 3 days. He's been out of town so I let the S rest. I really enjoyed it. The Vtec in that car is NOTHING like the s2k's though. I hopped into my car today and wanted to tear up. It so damn fun and precise. All this chatter makes me want to go for a spin. Later. I must agree in terms of the shifter though. It is the best I have encountered also. Forbes rated it in the worlds top 5 shifters. You gotta hand it to Honda though. They made a reliable car that rev's to the high heavens that has been out for 10 years. The 04+ is one of the sexiest japanese cars ever made IMHO. The NSX, RX7 is on my short list too.

I love my 135i and I've never driven an S2000, but I'd drive the two-seater until I had to have more seats.

I have a 01 S2000 that I'm keeping even when the 135 gets here in 3 weeks. For the reasons mentioned above, I don't think I'll ever want to get rid of the S2000.

The 135 is going to be so comfortable, powerful, luxurious, etc. but when it comes time to trade something in a few years, it won't be the S2.

I still get people asking me every week what kind of car the S2000 is, almost as much as I did back in 2001, but to the general population the 135 will just be 'another BMW'.


Besides, how many cars are so fun that you don't mind driving across the country and having to sleep at gas stations or Wal-Marts sitting straight up?

I had an 02 and it was one of the most fun cars to drive I've ever owned. The 135i is more fun to drive but in a different way.

The S2000's shifter is the best I've ever driven. I did like the convet. It also had a more controllable back end.

The 135i is damn near all of the above (minus convert) but has POWER....real usable power in all gears from 1500 to 6500 rpms. That make a quick convert to the 135i.

I may be showing my age but after 3 years as a daily driver I am glad to be stepping into my 135.
Being able to hear myself think at 80 mph and not having to rev to 6 grand to get in front of a mini van at a stop light will be very welcome.
Don't get me wrong, I love my S2K and It's been very good to me. The connection you feel to the road and that amazing shifter really set the S2K apart from any other driving experience I have ever had but I still can't wait for the refinement of my 1.
On any sunny winter day with the top down, the seat heaters on, the sun on my back and all that torque under my right foot, I doubt the S2K will be missed too often.:thumbup:

A co-worker is very much the performance car enthusiast, while he is quite impressed with the power and handling characteristics of my 135, he will be getting for his everyday drive an S2k. A great looking car which can be hot-rodded for le$$ than a BMW.

The S2000 is a car I always liked the looks of, and I have always heard people who say how impressed they were with the S2000. I would get one as a fun weekend car if I had tons of money. The one thing I dont like is the digitial gauges...I have that on my Honda Prelude...and its just not as nice/cool/accurate/etc. as dials...

i drove a S2k when it first came out. i can understand how well you connect with the car. but i agree with some of the ppl, the 135 got a lot of torque. i m sure you will develop the same type of connection with the 135. honestly, it'll be different but i highly doubt you'll regret leaving your S2k.

Lots of torque is nice, but is NO substitute for the S2000's road worthiness, and precise shifting and handling. A Mustang has a lot of torque, too... but that doesn't mean it's the right substitute for an S2000.

As great as it is, the 135i is an entirely different animal than an S2000.
