Holy crap....new ZR1 hits 10.03 w minor mods
thanks to Lingenfelter.
From what I understand it took a new tune, new pulley, and some cooling upgrades. stock engine, stock exhaust manifolds, everything. Imagine w a set of good headers and cool weather!!! 10.03 at 141mph!!! That 9 second territory right there w minor mods. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...41-50-mph.html

Awesome.....
BTW, every "car guy" knew that low 10's with minor mods on a ZR1, was always around the corner. Anyway, "kudos" to Lingfelter for doing it right.

Really? Who knew with minor mods this thing would be high 9's? I'm shocked and amazed as I thought stock for stock it wasn't such a big difference performance wise than a Z06.

I got to drive a ZR1, that car is insane, I never wanted a Corvette until I drove that thing. It is awesome, once you hit about 4000 rpm the sound changes and the thing feels like it is going to leave the ground. It is bad ass.

Someone on here compared the sound to a jet fighter compared to his e92 M3's single prop or something like that.
That car is leaving the ground at the tree. I would probably die in one. Adrenaline junkies and that thing = dirt man. Sniz a question. I read you are pretty active in the 1/4 mile scene. Would you give a pinky finger for a free and clear ZR1? Last edited by gonzo; 06-17-2009 at 07:45 PM.. |

I was kidding.............. So, if a top of the line trailer with tools/air etc was available for the other one??? I need both. Every now and then you get that nose hair that starts tickling you. Pinky to thumb = caveman tweezers. |

Anyway dude, I'm not against you or anything and I also shared the same view about the ZR1 being as quick as a Z06. Until I saw the trap speed.....! I knew this car has alot of potential. Specially being supercharged.

Too fast to be on the dragstrip without a ton of safety mods. Most dragstrips adhere to the NHRA rules for minimum safety equipment based on ETs.
When you get into the 10's, the safety requirements go way up. Get into the 9's, and it is even worse. Like you need a friggin' parachute! But damn, if that car isn't a beast! I'd still rather have a Porsche 997 though....

if that car was running in NHRA events it would need a lot of stuff done to it, but at private track rentals your good to go I'd love to see that car on a road course next........ only thing I would consider that Porsche makes over this is a Carrera GT or a GT2/GT2RS and your talking a hell of a lot more money there for a slower car.

My dad has both a ZR1 and a Z06. They are both BEASTLY. The comment above is true about the sound. The only thing I can compare it to is a fighter jet. I never thought I would have the desire to own an American car but the car is truly fantastic. Ive probably put more miles on it than my dad and have really gotten to known the car. IMO the suspension is really what makes it. Its so smooth in comfort mode but when switches to sport its so firm and responsive. This is really what makes it so much better than a Z06

Yeah, maybe for private track rentals, but I know the local track's "test-n-tune" open drag days/nights follow the same rules as NHRA. At the last one I was at, the Z06 guy's goal was to "get thrown off the track for going too fast." He did it too! He needed the roll cage since he was running under 11.99...

A guy on CorvetteForums broke into the 10's with a Z06 STOCK, so I'm not surprised that a ZR1 is nearly breaking into the 9's.
I love these machines.
