Suspended animation
I saw a short on CNN this morning about Mark Roth, a scientist making headway into a drug that will put people into a state of suspended animation, wherein a person is more or less dead but can be brought back to life later, as he put it. Potential uses, he said, include buying time for wounded soldiers to be treated. Apparently he's going to be (has been?) featured on the Science Channel, as well as an extended story on CNN.
Links. This doesn't really say much about the actual concept, but it does give some channel listings and times when the shows will air. Did anyone ever play Rainbow Six Vegas, or Operation Flashpoint, and wonder what sort of magical concoction your character would inject into fallen teammates to revive them? Well, apparently, the reality isn't too far behind the fiction. |
