The Ultimate Christmas Present

Now this is just an idea I have no made any purchases yet, but lemme know what y'all think.

Basically I have a good friend of mine who i've liked for a damn long time. I personally graduated in 08, but she asked me to prom last year. Had a great time together always do. This year she is going to the University of Seattle in the Army ROTC program. She has been wanting me to come up for a visit so my x-mas present to her would be a $100 giftcard to the Sky City Restaurant which is the restaurant on top of the famous Space Needle. I plan on telling her "we can use this when I come to visit you next month." She has never been to this landmark and neither have I. Even though I used to live in Bellevue for a short time. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!!

Depending on your funds, I'd either-

1. Pay for her dinner & give her the gift card after I paid so she doesn't feel obliged to use it towards the bill, or

2. Pay for her dinner & keep the gift card $ to put towards the meal.

I wouldn't give her a present & then tell her I expect her to use it with me.

+1.

Never give a gift card to someone and think it's a "thoughtful" gift.

+1,
some may think a gift card is just a cover for not putting enough time into buying a present

Well we've both talked about how it would be to see the space needle together, so it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Give her an "IOU" for the dinner and keep the giftcard in your pocket. Much classier. Also while you're down there if yall are into music the EMP (Experience Music Project) is right nextdoor. It's the giant funky, 8 different colors building. Wont miss it.

email her a copy of your trip itenary (sp?) and the reservation for dinner? It's a cool idea, just the gift card part is a bit weak.

Best regards,
Wede

the present is you visiting... the cherry on top would be a little getaway even if it's just one day.

pay for the dinner and give her something else afterwards. Unless you want to be just friends, then give her the gift card, but understand she may not use it with you. & don't corner her into using it with you either, just a lil tacky. my .02

WIN! ha all idea's aside it's just a bit difficult to give her an exact date since some weekends she's in training for ROTC saturday and sunday.
I'll make it work though! Matter of fact it was her birthday this past weekend and she comes home today.
