Ferrari 458 Italia vs Gallardo LP550-2

[u2b]dv_YApsenG8&feature=player_embedded#![/u2b]

Remarkable close and closer than I thought it would have been, considering the specs of both cars. I do think the first two races each car, 458 in first and LP550 in the second both jumped the start but in the last I thought it was pretty even.

Ferrari 458 vs Gallardo LP550-2

570hp vs 550hp
398ft/lbs vs 398ft/lbs
1485kg vs 1520kg (approx)
7sp DCT vs 6sp E-gear

The Ferrari should have won but didn't.

The Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera will not be much faster. But on the race track the 458 Italia will be much faster. Nevertheless, the Gallardo is an amazing car, specially the LP550-2, as it is RWD. It would be much better as an LP570-2 Superleggera.

And yet we don't see the jump during the shifts that we see with the PDK Porsches which seems rather odd.

I don't want this to turn into an argument on which drivetrain would be best in the Lambo, we get those argument almost daily.

Though that being said I don't agree that the LP570-4 won't be much quicker, in my opinion it would be noticeably quicker which begs the question how did the 458 achieve those remarkable times in the Italian mag?

Also, would the 458 be any quicker on the track. I don't know the answer to this question but I reckon we will see comparisons soon, now the 458 is readily available. I would expect the Ferrari to be the quicker but the gap I reckon will be smaller than you would imagine and then there is the Lambo's advantage if those trackdays turn wet.

Nice video. Thanks Footie.

In my opinion, I think the driver of the f458 italia is not shifting where it's suppose to shift. I think he's shifting way before all the reserve power is made. I might be wrong but it surely looks like that

That may well be true, that was how the F430 felt and I am sure the 458 is no different. Though that being said, he did get three chances to get it right.

A good car is nice, but a good driver is better.

Hmm...point noted. Sorry, I missed out on the last few races . I thought the new ferrari F458 would be quicker then gallardo...hmm anyway.

I know it's the special balboni lp550-2...RWD. I know the power losses are going to be less but still...that f458 was suppose to be real quick

Great part of BMW History. BMW engines powered the Red Baron and aircraft have the general distinction of being more glamorous than cars, let alone tractors. I dont adore the brand and it certainly does not inspire any passion like the Honda or the Ferrari Story but it is certainly more respectable.

Dude, before you call out Lambo you should read up on Ferdinand Porsche. That guy was Hitler's pet. I'm reading a very good book that really lays it down on the German auto industry for their collaboration with the Nazis, particularly Mercedes Benz and Dr. Porsche. It is not pretty.

My point is that the past is the past and if you want to talk about who was a sinner you're going to find out that most of these historic figures were scumbags.

Amazing vid! I want to see that black Merc SLS against both cars.

Does anyone on GTboard have a Lexus LF-A yet?
