bad tint issue
AHHHH i got pulled over for tints today, its the second time with the SAME cop... He used his machine the first time and told me that they were 17% on the front, that is a big NO NO in NY state. So this time around he told me that I have no choice but to take them off. Here is my dilemma, i spent about 200 to put them on, (all 5 windows) and i went to get an estimate at the same place that put them on and they want 125 dollars to take the two front off and replace them with a 35% tint. Thats nuts to me!! The other problem is that I leave for school on Saturday and in upstate NY they dont care at all about my tints, so its hard to take them off considering im at school for 9/10 months of the year!!!!
Im just very angry and suggestions??     |

Fuck that. Just roll your windows down a tad up front when your driving. The cop needs to get a life and find something better to do. There HAS to be a more serious crime/offense going on then bugging you about your tint.
And it's pretty much a no no in any state not in the south to have lower than 50% legally up front but you can easily get away with 35%

Better yet. Make an appointment with your eye doctor and complain about being sensitive to bright sunlight and glare. Then you'll get a doctor notice allowing you whatever tint you want.
I'm doing it at my next checkup when I run out of my current contacts. My sunglasses are pretty much glued to my head even a brighter gloomy days.

yeah I have heard people doing that, heck the NYS DMV says you can do it, but do I have to get a new license indicating the doctors orders? I too wear my polarized maui's in cloudy conditions it makes driving amazingly clear |

Besides the fact that my eyes are sensitive to light. I physically can't open my eyes sometimes without my sunglasses on. My eyes start to water and I get a headache. I freaking blows, especially if you're driving somewhere and forget your sunglasses. I've had to pull over sometimes because of it.

hahah....I would never risk my medical license just so that some kid can save $300 bucks on a tint job. Good luck.

the cop has told me twice that any tint on the front window is "illegal" in NYS and im pretty sure that information is valid. He then told me if it was lighter he wouldnt give me a problem... sounds like a scumbag to me

In ohio you can get limo in all the rear windows. 50% is legal front windows. No tint allowed on the windshield. As for when you get a doctors note, I'm unsure what it would change.
I have 15% for rears and 35% fronts. Was pulled over once since tinting and the cop didn't say a thing.

If you're going to school in a small town in upstate NY, plan on being pulled over often for tints. Their job makes being a Long Island cop seem like NYPD SWAT.

I told you your tints were too dark - you should have just opened up all your windows as soon as you saw the cop - this way he wouldnt havenoticed!
