BMW should take a page out of Toyotas book and follow with their own recall

Well guys, kinda simple ...

a FIXED HPFP will not = broken down car @ midnight, broken down car driving out of state, broken down car prior to meeting, CAR COLLISION... you get the ideas

just providing a warranty on a failed design doesnt fix the problem. its still unreliable and unsafe.

recall = problem fixed.

extended warranty = bandaid.

It's amazing how you would use any reasons to justify the purchase of the car that goes apeshit in the middle of the freeway going 80. The whole "extended fuel pump warranty" is just as much of a bullshit as free bumper for iPhone 4. Won't solve the issue, but will make poor customers feel better.

Exactly. If they did recall the HPFP, what would they replace it with? They obviously don't have a new design yet (I.E. N55 still uses same pump)

Now if there was a new design or product that had little to no failure rate, then I could see issuing a recall on the old style HPFP

I really find it amazing that people still continue to defend the N54 HPFP issues as being "an inconvenience" and "not a safety issue."

My father is dealing with this issue on his X6. I was actually the one who pointed out the problem. I had borrowed his X6 while he was out of town and my X5 was in the shops for tints.

Sure, the long starts were not a dangerous issue, but were an obvious sign of things to come. BMW's "answer" to this was to do a software flash. It is ridiculous to think that they actually thought this was some kind of "solution" even though they really knew what the problem was.

Lo and behold, when my father picked my wife and I up from the airport, the problem reared it's head again. We were accelerating from a stop at the lights and there was major hesitation....almost like the engine wasn't getting enough or a consistent amount of fuel.

It is good to see that lawsuits are forthcoming. Hopefully, BMW finally either bucks up or makes a concerted effort to truly resolve this issue.

I am the owner of two Toyota products & two BMW products. I will never purchase another Toyota product again. This is based on actual ownership experience & not this recall. Both my Lexus & Toyota Rav4 have cost me $$$ in maintainence & unecessary repair. Toyota products are cheaply made & assembled with its snap on snap off parts. You can also see the cheapness when you put their vehicles on a hoist. Just look at the undercarriage & suspension components. Complete rubbish.

Not a single problem to date on my BMWs. Heck, even the old 07 335 when i had it.
