She's Leaving
My girlfriend and i have been together for years now and we have basically been together and seeing each other everyday cause we stay at the same apartment. Now her mum in Chicago is staying with her younger brother but her mum recently got a bad pain in her leg from previous accident and she is giong back to Taiwan to get a doctor. My girlfriend will be leaving on Friday to Chicago to take care of her brother until her mum comes back but the thing is i don't know how long she is going to take. Don't know how it's going to feel like living by myself since i'm so used to it now that she is with me everyday. Guess i will be on the forum 24/7 unless i have class. Anyone had a girlfriend/wife far away from them for very long? How you people cope with that?

You'll get through it. I travel quite frequently for business. We've found that we kind of like our "alone" time. It makes getting back together more hot. We lock ourselves in our room and call in sick for like 3 days!

Why does her mom want to go back to Taiwan to get a doctor? Are the ones in Chicago not good enough or does she want some old medicine? She could take a 8 hour drive east and go to the Cleveland Clinic, one of the best hospitals in the world. I see soooo many Maybachs at that place when I drive by. So many rich people flying here for that place.

No really, you could spend the time doing something to surprise her when she gets back. You could work out and get really fit or rearrange your livingroom or just arrange for something special when she gets back. It´s sort of healthy being away from each other once in a while!

I'm away a few time of the year (couple of days at a time). The longest I'd been away from the wife was about 4 months. I think its a good thing, it recharges the relationship and yourself. Don't think too much of it...

Agreed with the rest, you will get used to it. You can always travel up to Chicago and vist her whenever you have the time.

No doubt it is tuff..My wife's from the UK and she goes often..so I just hang out with family and friends...kinda helps you reconnect with those relationships we often forget about...I also like to do my own thing...have you ever heard this saying "put a little space in your togetherness"...

surprise her when she comes back by having another girl living with you
jokes aside, as long as she's not in chicago for a long time then you should be ok..just give her a call when you miss her, yes you'll miss her badly for the first few weeks and it might stretch till a month or so while she's gone start hanging out with your friends or visit your family dont forget, you always have us and this forum btw + 1 on cleveland clinic
