Looks to me like the car was already wrecked (against the wall facing the wrong direction). Not that it justifies the tow truck operator making it worse.

Yeah; looked like the owner also dragged away a broken wheel? It was definitely wrecked. It was facing the wrong way and you can see the damage on the right front.

I don't know, in this case the ineptness of the tow truck driver may have helped out a bit. You don't want the insurance saying it's only "40% damaged", not totaling the car out, and attempting to repair the car. With the backside damage, and under carriage scraping up really good, he may have put the Vette owner over the top.

I'd rather they just total it out and hand me a check if it's in that bad of an accident.

That's what I was thinking. Did the owner leave or was he still around? If he was still around, I can definitely understand why he wouldn't be intervening or freaking out.
