RS3 vs 1M (CAR rag scans)
Lots of praise levelled at both cars but in the end they rated the RS3 to be the more polished, better composed and ultimately the more complete car of the two and not only that they also state that it's quicker down any road of your choosing. Surprising that they felt the Audi had better steering balance and felt more connected to the road, two things that traditionally M cars were generally better at. Things that didn't surprise me was they felt the extra torque low down and only driving the rear wheels caused the car to be a bit unruly and difficult to manage at the limit. Heaven knows what they will think of the next M3 and soon to arrive M5. Maybe the tide is turning in Audi's favour. |

Thanks for the scans. The text is tiny and my old eyes struggled to read it, but it seems like the RS3 really held a big traction advantage.

You may never see the price of an RS3 in the US. That's where Audi would be the major fail.

I can see why it's hard to choose between these cars but I think it's clear they have different purposes.
BMW give you an aggressive looking coupe, RWD and plenty of power. Will be a blast to drive. Audi give you a more practical car and it still looks great but can't look as good as a coupe (TT-RS comes in at this point if you want to compare coupe vs. coupe). The Audi also has more usable performance for roads/weather conditions and clearly has the better interior IMO. Like Footie said both cars are great but just do it in a different way. I don't think you would regret owning either.

OK, I see BMW can't build good car anymore. But with AWD Audi is not for me. I have to look elsewhere. Don't know if I'll find. I redict new M5 F10 is a huge fail. I hope this will teach M, and they won't fail with the M3 F32, and it will beat the GT-R. Can only dream.

I don't honestly know if this opinion is right or just a by-product of introducing FI for the first, either way this car isn't like the any of the M3 editions that have come before or presently in production, if anything it sounds closer in spirit to the old 2002tti. As for the M5, I am dieing to see how there new diff deals with a considerably more powerful and different torque curve than previous. Though I doubt it will be the failure you believe it to be. |
