I would get a Panamera before that any day.

Panamera aint got shit on that body or interior. I'd assume the only thing the Panamera has over this is practicality and better performance numbers thanks to its AWD.

I'm one of those rare people who likes the Panny appearance. It looks imposing on the roads. I really dislike the rear hip lines that modern MBs have. Just looks out of place to me.

I don't trust online pictures anymore. Certain cars, like nearly all VAG products, look great in photos, but boring in person. It's vice versa for BMW design, and I'm sure the same will be said of the new-gen Benz products.

+1 on the pics thing too. I really really liked the F10 5 series in pictures but the more I've seen it on the road it seems a bit boring now! Even in M-sport! Yet the E60 still looks really good in M-sport. It doesn't look bad at all but as I say it's just not that eye catching. Also, I'm not liking the SLS in pictures but on the road it looks good.

How did this thread turn from the price of the CLS amg to dissing VAG car designs as boring?
For what it's worth I can agree in some parts and disagree in others, a good example is the A6 and A7, these two look much better in person with the majority finding them among the best looking in their class. Now back to the CLS, a welcome reduction in price and no doubt better equipped to boot. Taking everything into account I think I would still pick this over the Panamera, though it's a great car it's looks are somehow at odds with me and I can't ever imagine owning a car which doesn't win me over in the looks department. All things considered I would probably pocket the money and buy the facelift version of the XFR, or better still the XFR-S if they decide to make it. |
