Verizon Iphone monthly price?
Hey everyone, I am planning on switching to Verizon this week and picking up an Iphone 4. I was just on Verizon's website and found out that for only 450 minutes with a data package is $90 a month. That's not including any taxes or fees. Is this the price people are actually paying? I wanted to see if there is something I am missing or this is really how Iphone pricing is. Thanks in advance for the help.

as for the OP yes thats Verizon's rate. 49.99 for 450 min plus 29.99 data. don't forget to add a texting plan. 10-20 depending on which one. the wife and I cost around 130 after her discount. lowest family plan + 2 data plans and texting.

We have 2 iPhones with data and text plans and a 3rd line with just voice and our bill is about $210. It sounds about right. When you think about how much we rely on them in our everyday lives, it's a minute price to pay.

im on AT&T and with a small discount through my work i pay about $95/mo.
450 any time minutes, 5000 nights and weekend minutes, unlimited data (grandfathered in) and unlimited text. My GF is on Verizon with a Droid, and she pays $80 or something like that, but she is on the lowest data tier and 1500 text messages, so the price is pretty much the same.

I switched over to verizon a couple months ago and I pay 39.99 for voice (450 min), $30 for unlimited data, and $20 for unlimited text. After adding all the b/s tax and fees minus the 20% work discount, I pay a little over $80 a month

So damn expensive. The text rates in particular are a travesty. Shouldn't the free-market have fixed such outrageous prices by now?
I've no idea why we even have seperate prices for voice/data/text. It's all digitial data handeled by the network in roughly the same way. |

Dang, you guys are getting ripped off or maybe I just have it good. I only pay $120 after tax for 3 iphones with 700 minutes to share and grandfathered unlimited data and text on AT&T.

AT&T is cheaper as they don't have as many of those pesky towers.

Data uses much more bandwidth than voice or text.

I worked at a cell phone store when I was in high school and the rate for a 60min per month plan was $45/mo with free nights and weekends. Texts were unheard of at the time and have gone from 10c to 25c in the last few years but the amount of voice you get has gone up dramatically.
I don't mine paying for something I use that works well and I use my phone constantly and it does SO MUCH. I could never complain about paying $100/mo for a device that gets this much use. If you sit and think about how much we spend on gas or groceries, it becomes such a relatively small expense.

King: OK so what 3 data plans could total $30/mo more than the basic voice charge?
Also, voice vs. data depends what you're looking at. You miss the point though: It's all just 1's and 0's. No reason to seperate things out like that. |

Verizon is $30/mo for data per phone. so 1 phone = 30, 2 phones = $60, etc. data can't be shared with Verizon, even on a family plan. you can only share talk and messaging with the family plan.

What is that smell? I can't quite place it. Oh, that's right, smells like bullshit! There is no way that you have a plan with AT&T, with 3 iPhones and unlimited data and text, and it is only costing you $120/month after taxes. Unless you worked for AT&T and were allowed to keep an employee plan.
