I would take the McLaren even if it cost more than the Ferrari.

458 looks like a frog, and it's not even as bad as their other overrated designs, the California, FF, and 612. 599 is the last good looking one left.

McLaren does it again with another amazing car. It does help that they did test the car at the Top Gear test track tho lol!

Still, with all those reviews, my first pick at a super car will definitely be a Lambo :P

I disagree. If you were talking about a 599 GTO that would be a different story The F430 Scuderia fixed the 'regular' 430's blandness. We shall see how the treatment applied to 458 turns out

I really don't understand how they got the quick laptime.
I've seen other tests with the Mac against the 458 and amongst other cars too (911GT2RS, SLS, Gallardo) and the Mac was not even close to the fastest car. Weird.

I wouldn't mind watching Top Gear's 458 review with sound only - the noise it makes does nothing short of put the MP to shame. Actually... the exterior does as well.

No, thats because Ferrari was sending ringers to the magazines when they were testing the 458 against the MP4. If you compare the performance/weight of the 458's in the original tests made by those magazines to the more recent tests against the mp4, you will see that the 458 somehow lost alot of weight, had better brakes, and faster acceleration. kinda weird right??

Ferrari is notorious for this. Im glad to see they did not have a chance to send top gear a ringer. Thers a reason Ferrari doesnt like magazines to use customer cars for their tests.

Just a thought but Clarkson always seems to have a bit of a nationalist when it comes to cars, especially regarding his hometown British ones. After all, the segment did include a big factory tour and a bunch of other things that were provided by McLaren themselves. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the most honest test (not to say that Ferrari is any better, obviously).

i really doubt that, because if it ever got out that they screw with the times, the show would really plummet. they have everything to lose, and really nothing to gain. look at how they bad mouth every other british car, i.e. rover and tvr.

but on the other side of the coin, mclaren couldve sent them a ringer as well
