American Top Gear
OK, after watching the first 10 minutes of the new season, I\'m glad that they decided not to be a carbon copy of the original. But they didn\'t improve much with the changes.

I was at a taping for episode 3, and got to view some segments from other episodes coming up this season. It gets better, and is a definite improvement over season 1. Top Gear UK it is not, nor ever will be--it is its own show with a similar format.

That's great to hear, I was never able to sit through an entire episode without wanting to fast forward through some parts, definitely will check out the new season!

Our overly sensitive public will not permit the snarky, edgy humor that you see on the Brit version.

not sure if i like the fact that they changed the title sequence.
Ep 1 was good but there was no siarpc or any car review/power lap. It will be interesting to see if format changes any more. I also went to a taping and probably will never do that again. Like watching the show, dont like watching it happen. |

One of the hosts was on a local radio show during season 1.
He said, like Top Gear Australia, they're going to tailor it to the US market. We're not the UK and we do need to rely on advertisers to keep a show afloat. The early UK version didn't flow as well nor did the hosts have the repore they do now. Hopefully things will get better. We are the car enthusiasts. If we don't watch, no one will. The first episode was similar to some of the UK shows where they just have a journey and nothing else. The entire UK staff runs the US show. I'm sticking with it. I can't get enough car shows.

Just saw the newest episode. I have to say that the show is getting significantly better (first time watching since Season 1 first episode). It seems like there's less scripting, and certainly much less censoring of their comments, which makes it seem more natural. I was fairly impressed.

Tanner is why I don't like the show. Actually, I don't like any of these guys. I gave Season 2 a shot but I can't watch this crap anymore.
