Travis Barker is hands down one of the best.
Also, Brian Tichy is one of my favorites. Former drummer of Foreigner (my favorite band of all time) and prior Whitesnake drummer. But this being said, my vote goes to Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment.

How mainstream does someone have to be to make this list? There's a ton of latin/jazz guys out there that would wreck most rock drummers. |

Max Roach, Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey, or Kenny Clarke would be a pretty good place to start.

Yes I agree about latin percussion. Me and my GF saw the Gypsy Kings in Vegas. Pretty amazing.

Chad Sexton is definitely one of my faves!! Applied Science from their 97 live album is one of my favorite solos by ANY drummer
Carter Beauford from Dave Matthews deserves a mention too. Doesn't do so many crazy solos but he does some things that shouldn't be allowed. lol #1 favorite solo of all time though... My dad had me listen to this as a child and I fell in love with music that day. not even kidding
