Nice a 200ft boat.
I remember 8 years ago when I had the gall to buy a 24 foot boat that I parked at Newport Beach 11.5 months out of the year. $4,000 a year mooring fee, spending hundreds of dollars plugging small leaks, yearly "upholstery" maintenance, rust protection, never mind keeping the engine running, I can't imagine ever owning another boat again. But it is a nice fashion statement, if you're looking to impress.

So, that is stunningly beautiful....for a house. As a yacht, it makes no sense. Most of the space inside is just wasted area....walkways...random places to sit and such.
Also, it's WAY too wide. That thing would have horrendous drag, suck up absurd amounts of fuel (even for a yacht), and be slow. If it is to be that wide, it would have to be a catamaran or trimaran....and that would raise new problems. Speaking of fuel, it seems to have no mechanical systems...exhaust...radar...com...helipad...dingy, etc. Also...the pool up in the bow? Really? The bow is the place that moves around the most. The first big wave you hit will empty your pool. The next might fill it with sea water. It would also reduce stability. So...it would make a good house...or a good lake barge...but as a yacht that would fail. |

Also have a great desire to use and deploy a boat that size. Maybe for a party? It's a big "show off and impress" toy. My experience with boats are they are a big waste of money if you don't use them.

I think it says in the video that this boat requires a crew of 20+. I imagine whoever buying this must be a CEO and not an average lottery winner, as hiring 20 employee's just for recreational purposes is quite out of the reach for 99.99% of people. lol

I wasn't exactly poor when I bought my boat, but after a while, it gets a bit tedious to spend thousands of dollars every year on something that provides you very little entertainment or utility during a given year. For someone who is a boat guy, and dreams of travelling the seven seas like Jack Sparrow, this is probably a dream. For anyone else, I think the novelty would wear off after a year.

http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat...es-yachts.html, here is some more information on it, it appear the made a full scale mock up of it.
Here is the best part, it handle 15 crew member but only 10 guest, I know smaller party boats that can handle more. This can all be yours for a mere $160M plus daily operating expense. I wonder what their potential market size is. Last edited by Maestro; 03-05-2012 at 04:39 PM.. |
