I've always been a big fan of the classic Porsche look found in the Boxster. So when I first saw this restyled Boxster it seemed Porsche abandoned that Porsche look. The car just seemed to be carved up, seemed to have lost those beautiful, classy curves. But the more I look at the new Boxster the more it starts to pull me in. If they weren't so damn over-priced, I would definitely consider buying one.

I'd have to disagree. The new Boxster looks less Porsche-ish. The headlights aren't the round bubble like in the 911. The fender the headlights flows with has more squared off edge than round. Bigger scoop on the sides look more like the Carrera GT (or MR2 ) and the taillight, well I just don't like the horizontal spoiler that connects to the taillights.

And to be honest, I don't think you can say it doesn't have it's own soul since th Boxster/Cayman handles much better than the 911, it's just plain more surgical and precise in comparison. Why do you think Porsche limits it's power so much? Because give this the same power as the 911 and it'll likely outsell it or at least threaten it's market share. The Boxster/Cayman isn't just an entry level Porsche anymore, it has it's own feel and enjoyment,

Except for the fact it is mid-engine, has more neutral balance and more predictable chassis.

If I had the money to buy a 911 I would still buy the Boxster... better looking! The performance issues will only be noticed on the track. The only track I drive on is an interstate highway. I've gone as fast as 75mph!

Reason why you buy a Porsche is because you cannot afford a Ferrari.

Now lets go down stream

Can't really compare the 911 with the boxter/cayman. They certainly have their differences. I disagree with the comment that people who buy boxters only do so because they can't afford a 911. While that might be part of it, some people prefer the feel of a smaller car. The boxter s weighs under 3000 pounds....that is extremely hard to find in today's car market, much harder to find than a 400hp rwd coupe (a la 911). I have driven a cayman r and a few 911s. Both are awesome and one day I hope to have the opportunity to own both.

Now that the Carrera and the Boxster S share the same engine, I think we'll see that this sort of dumb, old logic is both wrong and outdated. The Boxster should turn faster N'Ring times than a comparable 991.

I have my own prejudice, that the 911 is for people old enough to remember when it was the fast Porsche. The Boxster/Cayman is a better layout and with any luck, they'll market a GT version for this generation.

I dont give a shit for the miata,i dont know your background. As a previous member of the PCA (Porsche club of America) For 10 years from 1992to 2002 i was there when the Boxter where introduced, 1997 even Porsche salesman call them low budget 911. It may not be my opinion but i can tell you i know what i am talking about.
