Cadillac XTS to get vibrating safety seat

Quote:
The patented Cadillac Safety Alert Seat generates vibrating pulse patterns on the left and/or right side of the lower bolster to alert the driver of potential dangers, such as drifting from a traffic lane or toward nearby objects while parking.
I've heard Cadillac is trying to move past its popularity with older buyers, but isn't this a bit extreme?

Other makes already employ similar technology.

For example Mercedes lane assist vibrates the steering wheel.

Actually this seems to be a move towards older buyers. The MB Driver assistance package makes you an extremely lazy and lethargic driver (closest comparison as mentioned above in my opinion). You become far too dependent on the safety package features. Fantastic for old or bad drivers who don't know how to check their blind spots or can't stay in a lane + would be great for large commercial vehicles...

The first thing I thought of when I read this was that I would immediately go do unsafe things just so I could get the butt massage.
