Stupid and very typical of an American car company. It's just like the Ford GT500. Ford shoves a huge engine into a car with an old, out-of-date suspension. American car companies need to focus on more than power...just my 2 cents

American car manufacturers need to learn how to properly engineer the whole car. There is so much more to a car than HP.

In a way you have to feel sorry for GM. They have so terribly damaged their brand with generations of awful products that even if they were to produce a thoroughly engineered and 'finished' vehicle, almost no-one would be willing to buy it unless it was cheaper than the equivalent BMW or Mercedes. On the other hand, BMW seems able to get away with selling some mediocre or just average vehicles (X3, 650i, etc.) because they've so effectively protected their brand.
The STS isn't an awful vehicle, but it's not a great one either, so I don't know if I blame Cadillac for jumping in so aggressively to the horsepower wars.

Why feel sorry for them? They're still producing a lot of crap and dilluting their brand identity with all these stupid divisions. I drive rental cars on business trips quite regularly and they're almost always GM vehicles. Even the Buicks which are supposed GM's higher end brand drive like sh*T. The only decent GM car I have driven was the Aura (which is actually an Opel). I haven't driven the CTS and I have heard it's not bad...but they still have a long way to go with their entire line-up. |

"Cataract" may be the only division trying to "get it". I wish them luck, competition only helps us freaks. George |

The power is going to be great, and anyone who says Corvettes don't handle well hasn't driven one, so GM is capable of making a sedan trackable. What's lacking is a sense of world class quality and refinement. It still looks like just another old Cadillac.

I completely agree with you. A lot of American car buyers are solely focused on power. That's the premise behind a lot of mediocre American cars (ie. GTO, Mustang, Charger, ect.). Power is the only selling point and for a long time that helped American car companies sell cars, but today things are changing. Car buyers are becoming more informed and really taking a look at what else is out there. Unfortunately, this is having a devastating affect on U.S. auto makers. American companies simply can't compete with foreign automakers. |

The last CTS-V was surprisingly competent for a first effort. Cadillac has also spent a lot of time and effort in their road racing programs the last 10 years or so, where the CTS-V has won several championships.
Combine that with the proven world class performance of the 'Vette, and I believe it is possible for Caddy to come up with a category killer. |

you guys act as if they are talking about a 600 Pontiac Sunfire. As sdiver68 said, the CTS-V is a pretty good car. And if the stats are true, I'd be willing to bet that this car is going to give the M5 (thats right, the M5) a serious run for its money on the track (not just in a straight line).
