Just test drove the g37 S....
...than went next door to the bmw dealer and ordered a 08 335i AW w\cr, nav, sp, premium, ca, and some other little stuff....
g37 is ugly. I would rather take the g35 over the 37 anyday. Does anyone else think this? The drive was nice though i have to admit. Powerful enough. Exhaust sound awesome, but thats about it. Did i mention it was ugly. Maybe that was why they had so many left at the dealer. I really thought it would be flying off the lot until i actually saw it in person. Pricewise it wasn't that much cheaper than the 335i. g37s was about 43k+tax with nav, premium. They would not budge on the price. I bought the 335i (above) for 45.5k+tax. It just made it that much easier. For 2.5k more... i got a car the way i wanted. infinity doesn't offer red interior. Now i have to wait 6-8 week. Sales guy said it will go in production next week. How long after that do i get the car?? Boston, MA |

I also think the G35 looks better than the G37. If Infiniti stayed closer to the G37 concept they would have a hit. Your name and profile note you are an Audi guy. Did you look at the S5 and have any thoughts on it?

i acturally did....
Everything was perfect about that car but it was a little bit more than what i really wanted to pay for a car right now. Will definately get it later though. My first car was an audi. Got it when i was 17.25 year old. Blueaudi17.25 seem too weird so i went with 18. Been driving audi s ever since. 25yrs old now. Currently driving an a3 3.2 right now but letting my sister take over the car so i can have an excuse to get the 335i |

Totally agree. If Infiniti stuck to a design closer to the concept, they would be flying of the lot.

You will thank yourself many times for getting the 335. Get ZSP (sport package) and a set of snow tires for winter.

Congrats on the order. I was dead set on purchasing the G37S until i test drove it. Felt so disappointed and with dealer mark up, i'd rather get a 335i. So here i am waiting for my car to arrive just like you.

If the difference is only 2,500, I can't imagine going with a G37. I thought a fair differential is about 8k. Plus with the 335 you'll save lots on fuel over the G. I can't understand why Nissan doesn't give it direct injection. At some point it needs modern technology that can allow it to get better mpgs and have more HP at the same time. That's what the N54 represents.
It's a great car, but for the general public, north of 40k is a lot of money. And for an Infiniti it's a huge sum of money. Even the TL imho offers value...G37's price needs to come down a bit to be a value proposition imho. Anyway, good luck with the 335. |

I was a big nissan/infiniti fan myself. I like many others on this board share the same sentiment. If only they had stuck to the concept! I also grilled the dealerships about having their MF stuck at 2.75. Best buy for your money is the G37 -if- you can live with the substandard looks. They made a hugeeee mistake on the design of that baby. I'm still a fan of all the technology in that car but the looks and the weight need a lot of work.

The original G35 coupe was a masterful design in many ways and still looks good today. The G37 in comparison looks bloated and ill-proportioned (like the cockpit above the beltline is being swallowed by the lower half of the car) in comparison.
Infiniti should have hewed closer to the original G35 design, added M35/45 style headlamps, and sculpted the slab sides better. Had they done that, along with the upgraded interior, improved engine (debateable), and improved handling, they would have had a hit on their hands. And to raise the price into the mid-40s? Their own play at this point vs. the 335i is to play up the reliability aspect. |

I would not take any of them. Getting either of these Gs for >$40k is a dumb idea. I've made myself a promise that I would never get any Japanese car for more than $40k.

I was also considering getting G35 but it would be risky with no Infiniti dealers and no warranty in Europe.
It looks that you guys are getting your cars into production faster then over here. I am 200 miles from Munich and my order from September 6. is scheduled in production for the middle of November.

yeah Infiniti went backwards on the design. My '05 G35 to me looked way better and less bloated. Ive been saying all along Infiniti should have never increased the price the way they did because there not going to be able to compete with BMW in that price range. They should have stuck to the under 40K range and would have been okay, now they screwed the pooch. As you see Im a crossover from Infiniti. Im tired of the bad build quality and in cabin vibrations. Cant wait to see the '08 sales numbers from both companies. Holla

Once it hits production it is about a week to build it, then roughly 4 weeks to the east coast by the time it gets to the boat, takes a week on the boat, gets through new jersey and then shipped up to Boston. It can be less depending on how many days it sits before getting on a boat.
Search around, if you have your production number or VIN, you can call the 800 number and keep an eye on it (don't bother with the website - you will have the car before it figures out they built it). Once you get on the boat, you can find out where the boat is at all times and see it hit New Jersey, then you have to talk to the dealer to find out then it is coming. Don't feel bad about the wait - I ordered my 08 in July and will probably get it about christmas time - doing the Euro pickup in late November. Good luck with the car - if your like me, you can spend your time waiting by amassing all the stuff you need, like a Procede, aero kit etc etc!! |
