Is it sad that the instant I read your post I thought "Oh yeah, he's probably referring to that guy with the username Bill or Blip-something" and then I look up and it's the same guy

I don't think I've ever seen someone get more angry or emotionally riled up about a car brand, except maybe Dashocker (although granted he's been pretty tame in this thread ).

Very interested. Nice to see Lexus progress in a good way. An this is not just a IS Coupé but a car really different. Finally some good tires on a Lexus. These are the tires the LFA needed to have.

Is price talk for this thing really north of $100k?

I doubt, but it depends on performance too. Who know what has Lexus done? What if this NA V8 makes 500 PS and has 8K redline? Has all body part of CF including some chassis parts? Has new dual-clutch transmission instead of automatic? Who knows, but Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires looks serious to me.

I'm hearing 480 PS and for the Lexus RC-F, a bump in power of almost 60 PS compared to IS-F. RC-F will also be lighter than IS-F.

That'll be fine and dandy but I think they're find themselves selling many more cars with metal panels for $70-80k than $100k+ cars with CF. At that price point, it had better be lighting up the ring like the Nismo GT-R.

So tiring seeing the same people come into threads just to bash a car.

Anytime someone brings up a Lexus, the same guy jumps in.

Anytime someone brings up a Vette, the same 1-2 guys jump in.

Wonder how well developed that car will be compared to the M4. I feel like I've seen the M4 testing for 2+ years being refined and finely tuned and the RC-F literally came in last minute on the N-ring. I suppose when you develop a car like the LF-A over a decade, an FR sports coupe like this comes naturally.

Europeans suck ass at keeping next gen models a secret and Japanese are very well at it.

They are most likely testing the vehicles on their own tracks.

You could be correct, LFA developed with all Toyota F1 data, after it, they had no troubles improving the IS-F (compare first version and last one (minus gearbox with is auto and more weight, it was up there to the M3 E92 Competition), the GT86 is on Cayman level of handling, and this will likely be quite close to M4, if not surprisingly better in some areas. By the way, Honda HSV (cancelled) and now new NSX also are developed with lots of F1 data. Japanese are simply good at all this, but have different values compared to Germans.

The Japanese are good at making reliable cars but they consistently fall short of the competition in most other aspects. They've been trying to make a 3er competitor for over a decade to no avail. The IS-F was not as good as the M3 by your own admission. The GT86 may handle like a Cayman but is in no way better than that vehicle. They simply fall short. My question is: What are the values they're shooting for? The middle of the pack? Because that's where they keep ending up...

Fall short? Audi A4 and Mercedes C Class also fell short of 3 Series. And all other sports cars fell short of Cayman. All other limousines fell short of S Class. But it looks like things are changing, since F01 BMW is no more a leader in what made it best. In think the only who really fall short are the British and Italian. Even F12 fell short of LFA.

For now, nobody know what the M4 really drives like, neither what the RC-F drives like or how the future C AMG will drive like. So the battle is open.

Give the GT86 same power as Cayman and proper tires it is maybe even better than Cayman. The 4C fell short, it had the right weight, the right power, but many things are lacking to be a real Alfa, like interior and engine character so as steering.

That LF-A argument would work if the NISMO GT-R didn't just beat it at a fraction of the cost. My point is that they're not a class leader in anything other than reliability. The LF-A is a fantastic halo car but what about something competitive for the rest of us? Why no manual trans in their performance vehicles? Why no lovely exhaust notes (LF-A aside, obv)? They've been making vanilla cars for 20 years. It's time to step it up.
