Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates....I went and test drove the Mini Countryman last week and it was a wonderfully fun car to drive. Solid build, honestly felt like a wolf in sheeps clothing (BMW dressed as a Mini). Having said that my only concern is about the storage room in the boot. Also the MA said they dont do deals and tried to rip me off on the finance rate, but ill have to find a dealer whose willing to play ball.
Going to go later today to see the Jeep GK, STI, and GLK. Obviously they wont be as fun to drive as the Mini (well except the STI which may be more fun?) but they have the storage space I'm looking for. I will post a full update and progress check sometime tomorrow.

They do do deals, I suggest if you really want a CM visit the northamericanmotoring.com forum and check out the CM section.

There's no way I could do a GLK. It's so hideously bland and I honestly only see women driving them.

NAM is a wonderful tool for mini owners just like e90 is for bmw. I have been browsing there for about 2 weeks. I think its between the Countryman S-ALL4, Jeep Grand Cherokee (random I know), and the STI. I have not tested the STI yet, and truly would prefer auto even though I can drive manny and it can be a blast. The Jeep is an option because I think its looks are killer and it has great cargo room. Im going to look at the CM again and if I realize I was wrong about cargo room I think I will pull the trigger on it.

love the Grand Cherokee Overland Summit. The interior rivals a Range Rover Sport

The STI would be the most fun by far of your list. I bought my 02 WRX brand new and drove it for 8 and a half years before selling it earlier this year. Great car, very reliable, very fun.
Although as the post above me mentions, the new Jeep SRT-8 will be out soon with the new 6.4L engine. That engine is quite beastly... ask me how i know. |

So noone from the x3 site has answered this question so I thought I would post it in my thread here....
I need some advice on a car that I was offered. I was offered an '11 xdrive 28- ZPP, ZAP, sat, xenon, for 39k (minus loyalty cash). Heres the kicker it has 6000 miles but never titled. The MSRP is 43875 and invoice is 40875. So its really only 2875 off invoice... (with loyalty cash) It seems like a meh deal especially when you factor in the residual deductions it should be slightly lower no? Anyways I will be going tomorrow to test drive the vehicle and make an offer. I was wondering where you guys thought I should start or if I should walk away.

If you're not going further north than the NYC area you don't need to limit yourself to AWD. That said, there's a world of difference between an SUV and a Mini so you may have to really decide what's most important. Though I like the look of the A3, it's neither the most fun, most practical or best value so you might skip it. An RS3 would be a different matter (at least in terms of fun), but you can't get one here.

If you want sporty or fun, ditch all volvos and suv's.
Personally, I'd say sti, but it won't have quite the level of luxury. It will, however, make up for this by far exceeding the fun factor of the others. It's a rally inspired car, it doesn't get more fun. I buy used, as you can find a car in great shape with fairly low miles on it (let's say around 10k), but it has taken the price hit already. I bought an 07 335i coupe, idrive, heated seats, sport pkg, etc, all for $26k at 40k miles. I'm sure 40k is more miles than you'd want used, but you get the idea. I got the car at half price. Spend $30k and get one of the $40k cars you're looking at. Or spend $40k and get a $50k car you thought was out of budget. It's worth considering. |

Lightly used audi S4. All the cars you listed are so boring. S4s can be had in the low 40s if you look hard enough. AWD, tunable, great looking inside and out. All the cars you listed above are pretty lame (personal opinion), other than the STI. Unless you are looking for a non-performance car (simply functional, which I respect) I would go for the S4 or the STI. Both would be fun. STI is cheaper to modify if you are looking to do that.

For that price range, you have plenty of other options. Have you thought about Infiniti? What about an E46 M3? Or a used Audi TTS? |

Going later today to pickup the x3. Got a good deal on it and to be completely honest it handles just as good as my e90. Power is probably about equal but it gives me the stowage space I need and sense of mind (awd) I preferred. I will post pics later today.
Thanks guys for all of you help I know this has been quite the roller coaster in terms of what I was looking at but I truly value and appreciate your opinions. Thanks, D
