But for a little more you could get a GTS - it's got the wider hips of the 4/TT/GT models, an extra 23 hp, centerlock wheels, and it feels much better behind the wheel.

Or a used one for the same or less as you are looking at spending now. Lots of M3 vs GTR threads, and GTR seems to win a majority of the time...

the M3 while the V8 is still offered
The title says it all... the V8 will be going away shortly... get em while they last. The Pcar is superb, but will be available in some form for years to come. The V8 M3, not so much.

If it's purely for a weekend I think you would have more fun with the Porsche. Personally I would rather buy the V8 M3 while it exists, and it's still an absolute blast to drive.
