IMHO I could outdo a stock step 335i in my stock Z4MR. Technique is: DSC OFF, Sport Mode ON, RPMs at 2K. At launch, release clutch smoothly but rapidly, and nail it (this is the make or break part). Shift at about 6K. Look for 335i in sideview mirror.

That said, can't wait for wife to take delivery of her 335i 6MT.
2k seems high...it can be hard to hook with sport mode on.

Wow you guys are brainwashed. You'll probably win stock for stock if this guy can't drive. Just make sure it's a straight line...wouldn't want that body roll to getcha.

btw -- dr325i, what do you think about Shiv's initial comments about PROcede v2.0? Do you think adding another 40WHP and another 20-40 lb.-ft RWTQ (to make approx. 100WHP and 110-120 lb.-ft RWTQ over stock) might help to beat a stock '08 E92 M3? All I can say now is that at this point with PROcede v1.4 and 19" Mich. PS2 non-RFTs, my wheel/tire spin is fairly minimal; don't know how the PROcede v2.0 will affect it though. I bet from a roll anyway, a PROcede (v2.0) 335i will be unreal though.

For those 335i drivers who are so into straight line racing, why don't you just buy an American car with a ton of torque? Why do you even need a BMW at all?

Hey buddy,

Well, it will get down to 4.25-4.3 sec range...maybe.
M3 will be 4.2 to start with.

I think Shiv needs another 80 HP

Another 80HP and more TQ will break it ....we'll see about the '08 M3 doing 0-60mph in 4.2 sec. If true, that would be absolutely amazing, considering that a 911 Turbo and a Z06 go 0-60mph in ~ 3.9 sec. I still think a stock E92 M3 will be around 4.4 sec. 0-60mph and 12.4 sec. @ 114 mph 1/4 mi...remember although the M3 will have 420BHP, the TQ is still low, below 300 lb.-ft. TQ. I guess we'll find out in about 4 months.

Why? My PROcede 335i already has more TQ than a Dodge Charger SRT-8, and I've beaten one in a straight line already (by ~ 1.5 - 2 CLs). Besides, I do like the BMW's handling and I don't really like American muscle cars.

'07 Dodge Charger SRT-8: 425BHP / 420 lb.-ft. TQ

'07 PROcede 335i (v1.4): approx. 380BHP / approx. 445 lb.-ft. TQ (based on my XEDE dyno -- 322WHP / 378 lb.-ft. RWTQ).

I agree that the new m3 probably won't hit 0-60 in 4.2. If you look at the 997 GT3, it has a high revving 6 cylinder engine that produces 415 hp and 300 lbs-ft of torque and hits 0-60 in 4.1. Very similar output to the e92 m3. Given that the m3 will be significantly heavier than the gt3, i'd venture a guess that the 0-60 time will be around 4.4-4.5 sec.

Brainwashed...just let me know when your overboosted turbos start leaking like sivs in your driveway...and you have to pay to repair it since you voided your warranty.

Z4M's are real quick. Unless you get lucky with the sucky driver, he should be able to take you.

For what you paid for your 335i with PROcede, you could've saved some money and gotten a 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 with 500hp and 480 lb.ft of torque.

My point is all the straight line racers out there give BMW drivers a bad name.

Huh?

Why should we be embarrassed about having a car that does well in a straight line AND in the curves? Why shouldn't we enjoy both forms of motorsports?

Ford...

Ha ha...no thanks. Seriously though, I once had a Ford Taurus as a company car for 3 1/2 years, and although it wasn't a BMW or similar, it drove ok and I had 0 problems with it. I just wouldn't want to drive another Ford though.
