Looking for next car
Current car:
335i jb4, meth, intake and downpipes. im looking for another car under 30k. Right now im thinking about purchasing an E55 amg with a tune and pulley which puts down good numbers and should run mid 11's. I test drove one this weekend and its a great car but i dont know if i want another slushbox. I really want something thats as fast if not faster than my 335i, and i also want something thats really fun to drive. Besides the E55 i was thinking: P-car (manual) C6 corvette (with some mods they get going pretty quick) Any other suggestions besides these 2? |

I doubt you'll find a Porsche that will meet your expectations under $30k. Maybe an older (2003 - 2006) boxster but 1. it's not really that fast 2. I strongly recommend the IMS upgrade (another $3000). Or an even older 911 (1999 - 2002) but maintaining that car will cost u a lot.
If you raise your budget to around $40k, then you could find a few earlier year caymans (CPO possible too). add a turbo to that thing and you'll get a hell of a car. Would u consider japanese cars at all? For $30k, slightly used EVO or STI plus mods. It's gonna be really really fast. I've seen an EVO 9th generation tuned to 480hp (remember AWD too) and only 25k miles for sale for only $24k. That's gallardo territory. I'm pretty sure that car runs 0-60 under 4 secs. I'm not too familiar with corvettes. Heard earlier gens had some quality issues?I like the latest gen though. Thought about driving/maybe even owning one. |

E55 - those things are monsters and look fantastic if you slap on the E63 aero

Kind of a wide variety to choose from there... one is a large luxury car and the other an American dragster; that gives quite a few options in between.

I'm wating to see how the new BRZ turns out. As it stands, it's extremely underpowered but that can be fixed considering there will be a HUGE aftermarket. It looks like a very fun car and for $25k....it's hard to beat. Now only if Subaru offered a STi version with a 300 hp turbo flat four

Porsche has the same problem as the E55 plus you likely won't a good one under $30k. C6 Vette (or maybe a C5 Z06) looks like the best bet, but will you be ok with the ... Cheviness of the car, coming from a BMW? If you're ok with that, then I'd throw a 2006-08 GT500 into the mix. Makes flunk-out-of-1st-grade stupid amounts of power for less than $1000 in mods. |

When I was thinking about seling my M I looked at getting a C6. I was dangerously close to doing it. The C6 is an amazing car. Theres just something about the M that gets my rocks off though I guess

C6 would be interesting, fun, and low risk as far as repairs go. I would also consider a 987s Porsche, or look for a 993, or other air cooled 911, repairs are not cheap, but they are well supported and fairly simple (depending in age and options) |

my brother had one, the engine is fantastic, if you are looking for a commuter with stupid fun power its good, but the steering is really terrible, no feel at all. I didn't like it, but it is a comfy place to spend time, and it will turn its rear tires into huge clouds of glorious smoke.

Obviously I value steering feel and driving experience over brute power, but you bought a 335 too |

If you are a brute acceleration guy, the e55 may suite you, still they are aging and repairs will not be cheap. I'm not a big fan, except for the engine, but that's why there are many cars on the market. |
