That told me all I need to know.

Also, my wife who has a G35 sedan (which is a good car, very good) got a new 08 G35 for a loaner, and I can tell you that her older G35 is much better. It was on our radar as a replacement when her lease at the end of this year, but after driving one, it just felt cheap inside and is now not even being considered.
really? my gf and my parents have the old g and i found the new g much better in every way possible. interior is vastly improved and the driver feel is also much better.

Yes, and it's going to be a hoot toying with them. I still really like the Infiniti's, but until they fix the AT tranny (it needs to be a 6AT with much faster, smoother shifts) and somehow increase the TQ, the BMW 335i is still better and worth the extra $$, imho.

+1...the '07 G35 and the '08 G37 is a major improvement over the previous generation G35 in terms of the interior, high-tech features, power, handling, and road feel. However, I do think Infiniti mucked up the ext. styling of the G37...it doesn't look as mean now.

My guess would be that they will in a year or two. Just like how the early IS300's didn't come in stick.

Yea, we had it for a whole day and we were not that impressed. Maybe our expectations were too high. Also, since it was a loaner, maybe it had been mistreated and was a low version. Hers has nice leather trim on door arm rests and on the door handle, and the loaner just had plastic.

I also didnt like the shift points as well as her either. But either way, Im sure its a great car.

I think the G37 will be a nice deal for the price. But if you look carefully, Edmunds claims the MSRP is $37,300, which is only $2000 cheaper than the 335i sedan. In the end, with the same options I'm sure the G37 will be a few thousands of dollars cheaper.

I wasn't expecting the G37 to be faster than the stock 335i in a straight line.

The 335s biggest problem is the lack of LSD. (Damn you BMW!)

We'll just have to wait for a head-to-head comparison.

It is a legitimate comment though. A 6 series is slower than a 335, but it's still a 6 series, that is, it has far more class and sophistication.

ok. our 3 series has "far more class and sophistication" than a honda or a nissan. so it's ok for a 3 series owner to dismiss a car simply by saying "it's a honda" or "it's a nissan"??

i think you missed the point. a car enthusaist who owns a 6 series would still give the 3 series its due respect (even if the 6 has far more "class and sophistication" and our lowly 3 series) like some of us here have shown g35/37 some repect they deserve. it's quite disappointing when someone ignores the car itself simply b/c of its badge.

I'd guess that they sold a trivial number of IS300s with manual transmissions and the bean counters decided it wasn't worth it for the IS350. Having said that, I think Lexus made an error in not launching the IS300 with a manual, and it was already selling poorly and had lost momentum by the time they released the manual version.

It shouldn't bother you that much, since they're just pointing out a fact. Take a look under the hood or anywhere on the backside of parts on an Acura or an Infiniti. Every part under the hood, on the glass, behind plastic parts, everywhere on my 04' Acura MDX it says HONDA. And you're trying to tell us that it's not a HONDA? It says so right on all the parts!!!

Obviously that is the purpose of Acura's line. They know some people won't pay over $30,000 for a Honda so they created their own upper brand for those who like to buy for the name to carry the price tag. This is why the Acura TSX is the Honda Euro overseas. Same case with the RSX and Integra in Japan.

A car is nice because of the components it's made of..not because of the name.

I just hate those who are trying to make themselves look superior by buying a used 3series or C class and talk down to the Honda Accord next to you when in reality he spent more money on his car than you did on yours.

Well if the badge on the back that came from the company says it's an Acura, then it's an Acura so that would be the fact. If Honda wanted to make it a Honda they would have done so. The same is true with Infiniti, Audi, and Lexus.

It is a silly argument of semantics used by those who want to make themselves feel better, often when feeling threatened; which in this case is because a car that costs less and is made by the Japanese has similar numbers and handles much better in corners.

Every time there is even a close comparison with a Japanese luxury car, someone breaks out the name badge. It's guaranteed.

Just about every new 3-series has sqeaks and rattles also. Its not just "nissans". And the new G has very quality materials as well. Dont stereotype. Instead test drive one and then make your comments on the car. This interior i much different from that of the previous G35.

The only reason Acura, Lexus and Infiniti exist is because americans will pay more for a car because of the badge on the hood. Pay an extra 10 grand and you get a Lexus badge on your camry so everyone else will think you're classy and sophisticated. It's pretty brilliant marketing.

I agree. I can't understand why they supply a stick in the IS250, but not the IS350!!!
