Death By Beheading for Drifting

Looks like Saudi Arabia is finally cracking down on these nut case drifters. Here I though this was kids doing this, it is actually older people. Watch the video when the police arrive they all scatter like rats. This would be a good way to put to an end the bad behavior. One guy got 3000 lashing for drifting and killing someone.

Reminds me of watching counterfeiters scatter when the Carabinieri show up.

my friends that live in Riyadh all tell me there is one thing to do there: tune your fucking car and race it.

cars are cheap, gas is cheaper. they fill up with 50$ a MONTH.
Everything else is pretty much illegal. Including girls.
You're basically stuck

Blanket statement?

Having lived in Saudi Arabia for many years some time ago, I do agree that there's plenty of foolishness that goes on. On the other hand, I have also met some of the most skilled drivers I have ever seen driving some of the sweetest rides. I would say that it is more extreme than "the West" ie the bad drivers are really bad whereas the skilled drivers make a lot of our "track junkies" look positively amateur.

I suppose we could all be German: boring, devoid of humor, and with nationalistic tendencies. There's a blanket statement for you (and not one that I truly believe...but you get my point?)

Ah first of all I'm not German, good attempt at a nationalistic insult...though I do agree at your assessment of the German psyche and second outside of Abu and the tracks and drivers there...most of which are not from the middle east....they can't drive. Sure they have really nice cars....easy when your loaded...but still no skill....not that it's any better any where else, it's just more prominent there because not a single one of the countries there have any kind of drivers education. Now my intent was not to insult just to point out a fact...trust me the world is full of poor drivers, go to Paris if you really want to see something or any main highway in the US is you want to get run off the road by some dumbass soccer mom texting on the way to pick up her 4 fat kids....

A middle-aged man in Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to execution by public beheading after killing two people while ‘drifting’ his car, Reuters reports.
The man, who identified himself to police as “Mutannish,” which is Arabic for “he who ignores,” was engaging in a particularly reckless form of outlaw driving that is popular in the Kingdom and locally known as “Hagwalah.”
In videos posted to YouTube, large crowds are seen gathering by the side of the road to watch drivers skid their cars – often typical family sedans like Honda Accords and Hyundai Sonatas – through traffic at high speeds, sometimes heading in the wrong direction.
Several of the clips show out of control cars crash into the spectators causing serious injury, or even death. One particularly graphic video that surfaced in the internet in May a car rolled through a crowd as several passengers were thrown from vehicle. It has since been removed.

Faced with a growing problem, Saudi authorities are now treating fatalities caused by Hagwalah as negligent homicides, according to Reuters.
In 2005, a naval officer who killed three people in a similar accident was sentenced to death, but had the punishment reduced to 3,000 lashes and 20 years in prison.
It is not clear when Mutannish’s sentence is scheduled to be carried out
