My Hella Supertones Sound Weak

Just recently I installed a pair of Hella Supertones on my Jeep and noticed that over the past few days the sound has weakened. My horns' sound is mostly high pitched compared to all the videos on youtube which have a distinctive high/low sound and appear to be much deeper and louder.

You can hear the distinct difference in tone from the two videos I posted. Wondering if I should just return them to amazon for another set or if it's a loose connection or something. Also I should note that I did not use the supplied relay switch they provided in the package, could that be a cause?

VS.

What's funny is that neither sound correct. Yours sounds like only the high one is working and the WRX just sounds odd, maybe they still have the factory horn installed too?

Check your wiring, or better, use a voltmeter to ensure both are getting juice.

This is what they should sound like:

See, the weird thing is that mine sounded just like the sound clip you posted after they were installed. Then, all of a sudden a few days later they lost their loud tone. Could it be due to the fact that I didn't use the relay switch that was provided with the horns?

My friend did most of the wiring so I'll have to ask him if he disconnected the factory horns.

Use the relay. He probably ran the trigger wire to actually power the horns, rather than running a dedicated 12v to the relay, and using the horn trigger wire to activate the relay.
