Accord or Subaru Legacy
I am thinking of picking up another car for a daily driver. I plan to keep the BMW for more of a toy. I heard there are great deals on the 2012’s and I am between an accord lxp and a legacy 2.5 premium. Since the BMW is a stick I would go with an auto and I am looking at the four cylinder version. I live in S. FL so the awd on the legacy isn’t a huge concern. I had a 1998 accord back in undergrad and it was an amazing car, I got to 115k on it and never had an issues. The main concern would be overall reliability and cost of maintenance/repairs since I plan to keep this long term. I am not to handy myself and I recall the maintenance being cheap on the accord. One concern with the legacy is the fact that I don’t see them around often, I am not sure if this translates to higher cost for repairs and parts in the future. In the future if I decided to replace the BMW for another similar car I plan to still keep the accord or legacy for a daily driver.
Thanks, liquid |

Both are great reliable cars. The Honda likely will get better fuel economy do to the FWD vs AWD. Subies are not expensive to maintain. Tough choice. I would likely choose the one that I could get the best deal on. Since you don't do your own service work the location of the nearest dealer should also be a consideration.

I would go Accord all day long over the Subie Legacy. They stopped AFAIK production of the Legacy Spec.B which was pretty much the only interesting model from the Legacy lineup.
My previous car was a 2009 Accord Coupe with the V6 6-speed pairing. Phenomenal. Since you're looking at the 4 cylinder engines, the 2.5 from subaru is good, but gets a little lost in the heavy car + AWD. The 2.4L K24 from Honda is a fantastic engine as well, and does wonders to move the heavy Accord. I cant comment on the automatic transmissions of either other than to say if you go Honda and get a V6 Auto, BE SURE TO GET A TRANSMISSION COOLER.

they have outstanding deals on 2012 accords.. we bought one few months ago...
But its been in the shop three times under 10k miles already... Honda is not what it used to be. Get a Kia or Hyundai. Seriously

just wanted to give you guys an update. i test drove both cars yesterday. the accord was ok but in 2012 they only had ex versions. the stick was 28k i knew i was going to get it for the price i had in mind (18k) so i didnt even bring up price. so next i go over to subaru. i must say i was really impressed with the drive of the legacy (2.5i premium). they didnt offered a great deal on the 2012 so i am leaning towards a 2013. for the price point i dont think i would find much better out there.

We have a 2011 Legacy Premium 2.5. We are getting 30 mpg with mixed driving. The car now has 22K miles on it, and so far it has been problem free.
I think you get a lot of car for the money with this one. We still own a 2003 Forester. This has gone pretty much problem free for 99K miles. I did own a 2009 Civic, I was disappointed with the number of items that went wrong with that car in just one year. I think you made the right choice.
