What cheap bmw for 5K?
Is there any old bmw that can be had for 5K that won't be a money pit (I know now way to guarantee), but maybe there is some known reliable ones. Basically looking for a second beater that will just sit around, be drive occasionally, not to leave me stranded without a car. But I want something with some personality and not just a used civic. Any other car ideas in the same price range are welcomed.

My friend scored a very nice Alpine white '99 E36 328is, it's like an M3 lite lol. He paid only $3k with 98k miles. Its been reliable and quick. Came with some nice upgrades and he added M3 brakes and M3 wheels and dyed the interior an OEM red color.
