Can't Sleep... -.-
I hate when this happens. I usually have no issues sleeping, but I have a lot of stuff on my mind (work, relocation to another state possibly coming up, best friend moved away today, etc), so I guess my mind just doesn't want to rest enough to allow me to sleep.
Anyone else having issues sleeping? |

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to try that tomorrow evening. I've given up on trying to sleep tonight, especially considering I need to be off to work in 2.5 hours or so.

If you use Melatonin, current recommendations are to take it around 4 hours before the intended time you want to fall asleep. Exercise is one of the most successful ways to get into a normal rhythm. |

Behavioral therapy (such as sleep restriction) is long lasting and more beneficial on the long run than pharmacological therapy which has a temporary benefit and relapse is likely if you stop it. Melatonin acts like a magnet to sleep onset. If you take it 4 hrs before going to bed it would advance your sleep to an earlier time and you would probably wake up at an earlier time and your whole sleep period could shift which I'm assuming you do not want to do.

Btw
Never exercise prior going to bed coz you will never fall asleep because you will have an adrenaline surge as a result of that. It's like taking an M3 on a race and expecting it to cool down afterwards in half an hour.

I am always able to sleep after a nice workout. Granted I don't go straight home and right to bed, maybe an hour after I get home and I can pass out like a champ and I take preworkout stims too.

Sometimes, doing a meaningless task to get your mind off of things will work...such as counting the light bulbs in all the rooms of your home. Other times, it's just best to get up...

I stopped fighting it. I've always been an early bird, but when I started having problems sleeping, I'd be laying there trying to sleep at 2am. Now, I just get up and work on the computer, watch TV, then usually I'll get tired again around 4am and get another couple hours of sleep.
Also, benedryl (diphenhydramine) which is also in tylenol PM WORKS! It'll help you sleep for at least 4 hours, no addictive properties, no side effects. I take it every night (Benedryl, Tylenol is bad for your liver to take all the time) because i have tinitus (ringing of the ears) and have trouble getting to sleep. |

What he said. I started using it when I started working 10pm - 6am. Took a dose right before getting off work and if I dont keep myself busy I'll be out in about an hour. If you keep yourself distracted it takes longer to really kick in so take it and try to sleep. Works great, but it helps to make sure nothing will wake you up for at least 8 hours to get the most out of the stuff. I tried taking some on a plane to pass out for the flight but once the bitch in front of me slammed her chair back into my head resting on the snack tray I couldn't get back to a deep sleep.
I also tried unisom, but didnt like the way it made me feel.

It's a horrible problem to have. I was up until 5:30 last night. My alarm to wake up for class went off at 8:45. I've tried melatonin and it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure it's stress related for me. I think it will go away since I graduate in December and I landed a job that I start in January.
