If BMW put as much effort into fixing its steering as it does in creating the next abomination of fuel efficiency, we might have decent to drive cars outside of the M lines.

It's sad that BMWs guiding principle is efficient dynamics, and not sporty performance.

I absolutely hate that BMW is putting these massive plastic shrouds over the engines. They look terrible, just put a nice simple valve cover and be done. Makes it annoying to work on the car and they look horrid.

There is a strategy for an M Sports car but this will not be until after 2016.

However the i8 is not that car. The i8 is a progressive sports car , developed from the ground up to be anything but conventional.

Can you clarify about the 2016 date. Would that be roughly when it goes on sale, or when the development starts?

Agree, but I think its to quell the noise of the direct injectors. There's probably more (acoustical) engineering going into that cover than we give credit for.

Call it the '02 and prepare for calls of blasphemy.

It would be a nice alternative to the ever bigger/fatter/more complex BMW.

In this case my 1198 desmo-twin is even better!

Looking at the output vs. displacement graph, it seems like there's a gap that can be filled by a 2.5L inline-5!

I'll keep my inefficient(in comparison) 6 cylinder for the exhaust note alone.
