F1 Spy Case Findings

So after reading all the articles and transcripts that have been made available I have reached the following conclusion. Fernando Alonso is a little bitch. First he holds back information for the first trial. Then he attempts to blackmail Ron Dennis with it, and quickly changes his story when Ron calls his bluff and tells him that if he has info he must give it to the FIA. Then he makes a deal for himself with the FIA and turns over the E-mails. Loosing his team the Constructors Championship in the process. Oh and 100 Million Dollars, do forget that. However, he doesn't care since he didn't loose his points. I wonder how much preference of Hamilton he thinks he can expect now. I wonder if he has any idea of how much he may have fucked himself. I predict that Alonso will be looking for a new drive next year. Or if Ron is feeling really pissed, he may make him the #2 to Hamilton until he serves out his contract.

Remember last year when all the drivers snubbed Schumacher? In my opinion that didn’t hold a candle to this. Alonso is a douche bag.

How is it that the team is penalized but not the drivers?

Not sure who might pick Alonso up, maybe Renault or Toyota. I hope he has to race for Spyker or Super Aguri.

Unfortunately Alonzo will win his 3rd world championship in a row and leave Mclaren.

Not if they sand bag him he won’t. I mean up until now I think Ron Dennis has really made a legitimate effort to be impartial even though he obviously has a much closer relationship with Hamilton. I’m wondering if he will feel that way now. Especially since it wasn’t Hamilton that was involved in the e-mail conversations, but Alonso and their test driver. (whatever his name is) It isn’t like it would take much to tilt things in favor of Hamilton. An extra second on a pit stop here, an extra crank on the front wing there. Fractions of a second decide things in F1.

But you're forgetting that the FIA has already announced they'll be watching McLaren closely for the remainder of the season, just to make sure they don't do anything malicious to Alonso.

And Fernando didn't "make a deal for himself". The FIA contacted the drivers (Hamilton included) saying that if they had info and came forward, they would not be punished; but if it was found out about later, then they would face serious consequences.

No doubt. Fernando knew he would not be punished when he handed over the information. Which must be why he did not fess up before the first trial. However, that also says something about him doesn't it? Based on the findings the FIA released it was obvious that Alonso knew the data was from a source at Ferrari. I'm not going to get on him too much for that since I think most drivers would have been interested in the info, but he had to know that those e-mails were something he should have told Ron Dennis about right away once the whole spy thing broke. Apparently he didn't. Instead he kept his mouth shut until he tried to use that info for leverage (He denies he ever did this, but who knows). Whatever the circumstances behind how the e-mails came to Ron and the FIAs attention one undeniable thing is that the squeaky image Alonso has built up around himself over the last few years has become very tarnished.

As for the FIA watching them for the rest of the season. The team could very easily say, "OK Alonso, we have three races left and Hamilton is still leading in the championship. We are going to throw our efforts behind him and need you to run cover for him. Ferrari is about to do the same thing with Kimi and Massa. Alonso would cry about it, but at this point I don't think the FIA would give a shit. What are they going to do fine the team another 100 Million? I doubt it.

But there could be sanctions that carryover into next season -- like no constructors points ,etc., that would bite them hard even and cost money even if no additional fines are imposed.
