These figures always amuse me in how they are presented. If you keep introducing new variations and models you would expect total sales to increase!! I'd be more worried about things like the drop in X3 sales etc

In the UK BMW market share is down year on year and they have been overtaken by Audi

3 and 4 series are way up but everything else is down. I agree with the other poster regarding the slump in the should be high volume X3.
A little concerning.

This doesn't look good to me. Only the 1,3/4,6 increased in sales.

It's nice to see that there are 1 series enthusiasts.

BMW/Mini's sale haven't increased as fast, but they're still increasing at a healthy rate. I hardly think they "got their lunch money stolen" because they could only increase their sales 8.1% in a market they already dominate.

2013 U.S. sales:
BMW\Mini = 375,782
Audi = 158,061
Mercedes\SMART=321,798
Jag\LR = 66,962
Cadillac = 182,543

It's interesting to note that BMW sold more new cars this year than Audi in the US despite Audi's percentage being up 13.5% vs 8.1% because BMW sold more than twice as many cars in the US.

I wonder, do these 'sales' numbers represent retail sales to consumers or wholesale sales to dealers? If it's to dealers, the numbers are rather meaningless...

Spin, baby, spin.

Losing market share, is losing market share, is losing market share.

BMW even lost the #1 spot this year for luxury sales. They barely kept pace with the overall growth in the new auto market. That is not "dominating."

BMW is clearly not growing at the pace of other luxury makers, maybe they need to stop making 10 variations of every platform and focus more on vehicles that consumers actually want. Get rid of vehicles that just dilute the brand like X4, 3GT, 5GT etc.
