I hear ya. I've been through a few brands as well and have enjoyed subaru and obviously bmw (the 135 being my first and only) the most. I had an 01 S4 and suffered so many problems with it that I sold it after 6 months of owning. I'm sure they've come a long way since then. Lol.

Mine hasn't exactly been issue-free thus far, though I do love the car. I've had it for about a year and a half and It's been to the dealer about a half dozen times (roughly 15k miles - 48k total on the car). I just had some kind of magnet replaced in the steering column and last summer was all about the creaking clutch. The clutch is definitely a weak point in these cars.
