Once upon a time, a very long time ago now, about last Friday, Winnie-the-Pooh lived in a forest all by himself under the name of Sanders. ("What does 'under the name' mean?" asked Christopher Robin. "It means he had the name over the door in gold letters, and lived under it." "Winnie-the-Pooh wasn't quite sure," said Christopher Robin. "Now I am," said a growly voice. "Then I will go on," said I.) One day when he was out walking, he came to an open place in the middle of the forest, and in the middle of this place was a large oak-tree, and, from the top of the tree, there came a loud buzzing-noise. Winnie-the-Pooh sat down at the foot of the tree, put his head between his paws and began to think. First of all he said to himself: "That buzzing-noise means something. You don't get a buzzing-noise like that, just buzzing and buzzing, without its meaning something. If there's a buzzing-noise, somebody's making a buzzing-noise, and the only reason for making a buzzing-noise that I know of is because you're a bee." Then he thought another long time, and said: "And the only reason for being a bee that I know of is making honey." And then he got up, and said: "And the only reason for making honey is so as I can eat it." So he began to climb the tree. He climbed and he climbed and he climbed, and as he climbed he sang a little song to himself. It went like this: Isn't is funny how a bear likes honey? Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! I wonder why he does?

He is most likely referring to a medical marijuana card.
To answer the question, most likely not. Just because it is legal does not mean a company must hire you against their policies. If you are restricted from using a something as a condition of your employment; perhaps you should either not work there or not take the prohibited substance. |

I don't work for BMW, but I drive a BMW.
That clearly is almost the same thing man! What was the question? I think Winnie-the-Pooh's deductive reasoning cannot be argued against. |

You will more than likely not get hired being the size corporation BMW is. I have my card from Michigan and because it is not technically "legal", a lot of larger companies will not honor it as a legitimate medical aid compared to prescription drugs.
If you want to work for BMW, you'd be better off keeping a clean system. If you want to go work for a mom and pop repair facility, you will more than likely find a position. Or you can go with the Winnie the Pooh route. |

Could be dependent on the area. When I was tested, I never heard back from the VW dealership I put my resume into. Mind you, I was never a job jumper, had any kind of record, and I presented myself professionally no matter what position I was looking for, so I didn't see any reason to be denied other than that single fact.
I ended up working at a smaller shop called Speedy and was tested prior to employment. I had it noted that I did in fact use medicinal prior, and on my second interview it was brought up that they typically don't hire anyone who tests positive, regardless of medical or not, due to if something should happen due to a negligent employee abusing during work hours, it could be fatal to business if the community became aware of a situation. Like I said, you are going to get mixed answers. There are places that will hire you, and there are places that will not. It is up to their own judgement and hiring policies. |
