Well, actually going from the vehicle to rehab center felt like running 1/4 miles.

Now that I can barely walk, I took the job which is little physically demanding to get some walking done (~2-2.5 hrs of walk with 25lbs load). However, I am doing about 10-16hrs/week.
That just means you weren't rehabing hard enough.

Jk, everyone has different situations, but I've mostly just broken bones, but even still, when I busted my wrist in a hockey game, I kept playing. Hurt like a mother fucker, but whatevs. By the end of the game it looked like someone stuffed a softball under my upper wrist.

Basically what I'm saying is that I'm fed up with people who can't take the heat of the kitchen.

I hope you understand there are simple ways to litigate your calorie intake without sacrificing hunger. That is basically the premise of what this is all about. Portions. If you are walking as much as you are, you shouldn't have a problem going back to size, given you can manage your calorie intake and the foods you eat.

I see your point.
For a person who can gain/lose weight easily (myself), it isn't biggie. However, with recovery period, this is probably one of the most challenging times in terms of weight change.

I do believe in mind over body, but that is what it got me in this position at first place.
I had a job which I need to stand 8-10hrs w/ ~70-80lbs load. Did that for 4yrs. On a bad day, I was averaging 18k steps ,and on good rainy days, 11k steps with the load. Funny thing is that, people who are very healthy/workout freaks/sports freaks all gave up within 1.5yrs.

That was the dumbest mistake of my life. I should have quit within 2yrs.
I also also dumb that I thought I still had 18-22yr old body.

It is part mind over body, but honestly, physical endurance is going to prevail. Your mind can only trick you into so many things. Fake it until you make it only works under certain situations.

I know what you mean when you are on your feet all day. I used to do it for 60/70 hours a week. It's strenuous and by the end of the day, the motivation isn't there. It is what it is. In that same fact though, only you can change your future. Hours in a day might be limited, but if you want to live a long an prosperous life, you can make at least a half hour out of each day to give your body the love it needs.

You wouldn't go more than 10k on your motor without changing the oil right? And that's well beyond what I would ever consider. What about your body? Keep clogging that filter and it's going to run like shit whether you want it to or not.

Watching a show right now on TLC called 600 pound mom. They had to break a wall down to get her out of the room and into an ambulance.

Just to get my claim in, class of '84. . .

kscarrol, your son's diagnosis may turn into his greatest blessing in life. I was diagnosed when I was 13. Without that burden, I'd probably be 30-50 lbs more overweight than I am now, and I surely wouldn't have sweated as many gallons in the gym and on the soccer fields that I did.

Having a family core that cares is also important. I've been battling my wife as much as the food industry on cooking and eating. We have now come to the agreement when we go out that I will normally order a salad and share whatever she gets. That way I get some veggies, and we reduce portions. Often, we still have a bit to take home to the dog.
My wife no longer serves my plate at home. I couldn't stand seeing a full plate of pasta with one scoop of sauce on top. Mine is a 1/4 plate of pasta with 3 scoops, plus room to throw on something uncooked and green.

Thanks UncleWede! We pick our spots for treats (donuts Sat mornings) but six nights a week we cook at home with fresh, healthy ingredients. It definitely helps his diabetes and keeps us all in general good health. My weakness is that glass of wine in evenings, maybe a couple of scotches on the weekend! I am proud to say that my kids have never eaten McDonalds and they know how disgusting it is...

All I got to say is:

Sugar, oh, honey, honey
You are my candy girl
And you got me wanting you
