I'm in a same boat...My house was on fire and I'm trying to buy a better home with insurance claim. A better home at around 600k... But all I can find is fix uppers...

But then, real problem is the property tax. Mortgage isn't much. But tax is killing me bad.

Funny that i was sitting in my living room that i designed and had built in 2009 for $425k wondering what i could get for $500k. Did some searching and found nothing that i would rather have than what i'm in now.

I agree, that $500k seems to be the new $200k.

Says the house was built in 2014 so I'm guessing the lot was sold for $173k

Jersey, brother... I feel your pain!

@Joekerr, your spell check comment made me chuckle! However (yea, I'll be THAT guy), his words were spelled properly. Spell check would not have helped!

lol - I know they were spelled correctly...almost irked me that they were. Been a while since I've used spellcheck, but I thought it also automatically checked grammar too?

Perhaps not.

If you think $1,200 is a lot, think again. My cousin's family has two kids and it costs them $3,500/month for two kids. It covers daycare/schooling as well.
