"London - A new gadget repels gangs of teenagers by emitting a high-pitched noise that can be heard only by under 20s.

Police are backing the Sonic Teenager Deterrent, nicknamed the Mosquito because of its sound, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It annoys teenagers so intensely they have to clutch their ears. Eventually they can stand it no longer and have to move on.

But because the body's natural ability to detect some frequency wave bands diminishes almost entirely after 20, adults are completely immune."

they tried that in downtown santa cruz, CA

they used classical music rather than a high pitched sound

eventually they had to turn it off, it was deemed "unfair"

This is genuine. I saw something about this a few months back on the news. A local shop trialled it because the little sh£ts kept hanging around after school upsetting all the locals, loosing them business. Installed one of these outside the shop and result was no more kids hanging around so the regular customers came back. Only problem is the little buggers just moved on somewhere else, and probably just started keying BMW's for kicks. The only solution I think is to have them locked up somewhere in a sweatshop making trainers.
