Acura lowers HP rating for 06 TL.
I just noticed this on the Acura website. They've downgraded the HP on the TL to 258, the same as the 06 330i.
Out on the Fujita webite, there are several dyno's shown, one for an 05 TL. http://www.f5air.com/applications.html It only dyno'ed at 205 HP and 187 ft/lb of torque. This for a car rated at 270 HP. That's a 24% decrease from the stated HP. I guess Acura lowed the HP to bring it more in line with the truth. Even if it's truly been at 258 the whole time, that's still a 20% decrease. |

This is from Edmunds website......
What's New for 2006 Other than a new tire-pressure monitor and altered engine management (for reduced torque steer), the Acura TL is mechanically unchanged for 2006. As with all 2006 Acuras, there is a longer powertrain warranty for the TL. It now provides six years/70,000 miles of protection. New SAE testing procedures have dropped the TL's horsepower rating from 270 to 258. That's code for "quit on your HP claims." |

They had no choice but to downgrade the HP rating, this is just proof that's it's never been a 270 HP engine. It's the same engine from 05, no changes. 15%-20% loss is typical for an automatic (without a roundel on the hood anyway ) which makes 258 more realistic based on the loss through the drivetrain.

drivetrain loss has alot to do with it. Why else would the E46330 with 225 HP be able to keep up if not outperform the G35 which has over 250hp? |

I was sooo pissed when I put my '99 lude up on the dyno...stock rating, 200hp, I got 157hp. 37hp loss thru the drivetrain, I don't think so! After I spent much cabbage on the h22a, I was only able to get 175 or so out of it!! I know OBDII had some to do with it and the fact that my build was all-motor and not FI, but still...

My celica GT-S was not for off. It was 180 hp stock. I dynoed it with AEM intake and TRD exhaust to 174 hp to the wheels. I was 161 to the wheels stock.
