LOL at the GT-R fani boy comment and the Ariel sounds cute, glad to see it was the most desirable.

Can't believe a 7 year old GTR is still as fast as Porsche's newest shiniest Beetle! I can't wait to see the tears from Porsche fanboys when the new R36 comes out and keeps up with a 918 Sypder!

Would still rather have the slower 911.

The only that that hasn't changed much since 2008 is the styling, otherwise this is not the same GTR. Look at the power bump and ring time.

The point is the chassis and motor are essentially over 7 years old. There have been numerous 'tweaks' implemented on the GTR on a yearly basis it seems, but in the end, it's really just the same car from 2007 with a several revisions. And the GTR was underrated to begin with. It was a 500+hp car from the start. Not sure if these newer ones are also underrated compared to their advertised hp, but I suspect they aren't, at least not significantly. The reason we have seen the straight line performance improve mostly due to more efficient engine tuning and a heavy revision of the transmission hardware and software. This all obviously would translate to better times on the track since the GTR seemed to be one of those cars with more chassis than the engine can handle.

While it shares the same chassis as was debuted in '07, it would be foolish to downplay the improvements made to its running gear and powertrain over the years. Especially the NISMO, getting an additional boost in output over the regular model (which received improvements), additional chassis stiffening (8%), wider tires with stickier compounds, pimped out coilovers, a more aggressive rear sway bar, and additional downforce.

It's almost vaguely like saying you're impressed by the debut model year W204 C63 when the Black Series came out years down the road and punched in a higher weight class.

Either way, that GTR would be the last car I'd want in that group.

Yes the chassis (aka the frame of a vehicle) is roughly the same. But the cars suspension has been changed time and time again plus more power. Different suspension, more power, lighter materials, etc.

Still take the Atom over any of those cars.

The GTR has been upgraded and changed yearly since its debut so to say its a 7 year old car is wrong...not to mention the fact that is has about 30% more power and tq than the GT3 and STILL LOST.

Seems anyone with a 458 should be say too since they would lose to the GTR whereas the GT3 put down the faster time.

Funny thing is, no matter how fast the GTR is, it will never be a more desirable car than a GT3 or 458.

I guess I should go pounding my chest because the 997 GT2/GT3 DOMINATED everything and that was on a chasis that was developed in the early to mid 90s, so even at the end of the 997 generation, that 15 year old chasis was still making just about every one else look like amateurs. My guess, a GT3 RS/4.0 or GT2 RS would still be right in the thick of the numbers against current cars on their now 20 year old chasis.

I think the 911 vs GT-R battle has been great for car fans; the yearly updates by each brand to try and out-do the other has led to some truly insane performance in both camps. I wish Bimmers were constantly tweaked like that maybe not, considering GTR MSRP has about doubled

Can't wait to see what the next Godzilla has in store!

All valid and reasonable facts regarding the progress of the Nissan.
Unfortunately though, it's wasted breath.
That guy, for whatever reason, despises Porsche.
Look at his posts and it seems he despises those that drive them too.

Many here in GA appreciate all kinds of layouts and those that manufacture them.
Then there are a handful that jump into threads, take a baby poop, and jump out.

Weaker than circus lemonade.

Yes I've noticed this too. He's just a hater. Probably hating on something he's never experienced or better yet owned.
